Talking to Dallas Cowboys scouts and higher-ups, they expect Cedrick Wilson and Dalton Schultz to garner a healthy payday on the open market, and they don’t have a great deal of cap to bring both or either back. They have Blake Jarwin under contract, and Michael Gallup fresh off of ACL surgery is expected to take on a much smaller payday than Wilson. Expect a one-year deal for Gallup. That brings us to Jeremy Ruckert, he will join in the Schultz role and supplant Jarwin by season’s end… think Pat Freiermuth > Eric Ebron.

Cody’s Takeaways
After a long week in Mobile, Alabama for the 2022 Reese’s Senior Bowl, I came away with a hand full of notes while talking to contemporaries, scouts, and even a couple of members of NFL front offices.
No. 1
The biggest takeaway, it sounds small, but everyone I talked to attached to the NFL explained that the front offices are “not as forward-thinking as people in the media think we are, we focus on today and tomorrow, not next week.” This was brought up while talking through the 2021 NFL Draft, and rumors of potential trades for the Dallas Cowboys.
No. 2
Kenny Pickett entered Mobile as the consensus QB1 according to NFL Scouts and the Media.. both on the same page? Weird, I know!
No. 3
The worst kept secret in Mobile was Mike Tomlin’s love and attachment to Malik Willis each and every day. Tomlin was on the field, following Willis and the OL up and down the field and mingling with a number of players. He was the only non-Lions/Jets Coach that was on the field from start to finish, all three days.
No. 4
As some of you may know, I have had two Senior Bowl studs in the first round of my first three mock drafts, that being Northern Iowa’s Trevor Penning and Florida State’s Jermaine Johnson. Both guys dominated in Mobile. Penning dominated all week, finishing after EVERY whistle and almost starting fights every day. Jermaine had such a dominant Day 1 and 2 that he didn’t even dress for the game on Saturday. He did enough for NFL Scouts that his agent was good pulling the plug.

The Cleveland Browns staff was solely focused on the Offensive and Defensive line 1 on 1’s, Inside Run Game, and Pass Blocking/Rushing. Including Scouts, and GM Andrew Berry sitting on the Media side of the stadium, scouting the OL/DL most of the day on Day 2.
No. 6
Falcons GM, Terry Fontenot discussed the use of Analytics in the Falcons organization as “minimal” –Â the biggest thing is, “We look at it, but mostly for injuries and comparing practice data.”

The Dallas Cowboys had “Micah Parsons as the No. 1 player on their Draft Board in 2021. However, if Patrick Surtain was available, he was the pick… and to double down, if Jaycee Horn was available, they preferred Horn to Surtain.” Mind-boggling to me, but it makes sense now that they traded down from No. 10 to No. 12, after Horn and Surtain were drafted at No. 8 and No. 9.
