Todd Gurley’s reputation as an whirling, hurdling playmaker masks an unfortunate truth: The advanced metrics indicate that Gurley is simply not good at avoiding tackles. That’s a problem.

Successful slot receivers in terms of fantasy football are few and far between. Not many teams have the quarterback, offensive scheme and talent at wide receiver to churn out fantasy relevant players in the slot, but as with everything there are the anomalies.

After losing multiple running backs to injury or inefficiency in 2016, Ty Montgomery was given an opportunity to play running back and did not disappoint. In fact, Montgomery was one of the most efficient running backs in the NFL last season.

Ty Montgomery has an exciting athletic profile, and the other backs in the Green Bay backfield simply do not pose major threats to his opportunity share. Everything points to an extreme fantasy football breakout in 2017.

Demaryius Thomas is a big-bodied wide receiver who overwhelmed NFL defensive backs, particularly after Peyton Manning took the controls in Denver in 2012. For the past five years Thomas has been a top-15 fantasy receiver, with most of those finishes in the top-5 overall of WRs in point per reception (PPR) formats.

Demaryius Thomas yards after the catch regression points to WR1 season. Thomas is a player you can snag in round 3 or 4 of year draft to give you two WR1s on your roster this season. Look for improved production out this top shelf player.

Golden Tate’s is a great value in fantasy football, and Tate’s advanced stats, metrics, and analytics profile suggests he will outperform his draft position. At pick 45, Tate will allows Zero RB drafters to win the flex position, the key to victory in 2017.

Golden Tate is a high target volume PPR player who wins after the catch with quickness and physical style of play. He isn’t a high touchdown number player but has maintained a high number of receptions and good yardage numbers in his three years with the Detroit Lions.

After a disappointing year in 2016 the Zero RB zealots should rally for a major comeback this year with natural regression at the running back position, deflated wide receiver, and inflated running back ADPs. There will be many leagues won this year with late round running backs who break out big in the second half, provide surprise PPR value, or take a job early and never let go.

Doug Martin will enter 2017 spending 3 games suspended and in this time talented players like Charles Simms and Jeremy McNichols will take over all of the passing downs work and maybe more. Martin will return to a crowded backfield as the ghost of running backs past and the Buccaneers could relegate him to a backup role sooner rather than later.

Donte Moncrief has been a polarizing player in fantasy football as of late. In a high scoring offense with quarterback Andrew Luck, Moncrief should be a key cog for dynasty fantasy football lineups for years.

While still earning a positive Production Premium, outside of touchdowns, Donte Moncrief hasn’t been very efficient. The 64 yards posted in week 1 turned out to be his game-high for the season. His catch and yardage totals left a lot to be desired, logging just 30 receptions for 307 yards.

DeMarco Murray is a solid option at running back in fantasy football, yet is curiously undervalued in redraft this year. Murray is being drafted after Devonta Freeman, Jordan Howard, and Jay Ajayi in most redraft leagues.

Murray’s ADP is the fact that he could be seen by most as a “boring veteran,” as everyone seems to gravitate toward the shiny new toy when it comes to fantasy football. Devonta Freeman, Jordan Howard, and Jay Ajayi are younger, flashier, and don’t have the perceived negatives associated with Murray simply because they haven’t played long enough to run into much adversity.

If healthy in 2016, Eric Decker would have been a top-15 wide receiver. Yet, Decker’s average draft position sits outside the top-40 wide receivers. Fantasy football enthusiasts should be arrested for stealing this fantasy season.

Fantasy analysts are worried Corey Davis and Rishard Matthews will cut into Eric Decker’s volume. However, there is very little reason to be concerned about those two siphoning a great deal of volume from Decker.
