The 2017 rookie tight end class produced several players who are at the very forefront of the forthcoming Tight End Renaissance that will be hitting the NFL very soon. These three first-year performers offered a hint as to what they can bring to their offenses last season.

Boasting an incredible 86th percentile Burst Score, a 94th percentile Agility Score, and 88th percentile Catch Radius, Stephen Anderson is poised to break out in 2018.  Anderson’s 13.7-percent Hog Rate was No. 7 among NFL tight ends, making him a better value than the hype-soaked Trey Burton in Chicago. 

When you draft a running back in the first round you get to see them in NFL action for a year then at that point you can decide if they are worth a long term investment. If you deem them unworthy of being a building block for your team you have a 79% chance of recouping or gaining on the value of the pick you had originally invested in them.

Running backs such as Royce Freeman are safer early-round investments in dynasty fantasy football as they maintain or increase value at a greater rate than their wide receiver counterparts.

John Kelly has the College Target Share of an elite satellite back, yet lacks the athleticism to become one at the next level. Boston Scott has a lower College Target Share, yet elite satellite back athleticism.

When you draft a satellite back, you want that back to have similar metrics to Scott and his 125.9 (86th-percentile) SPARQ-x Score. Pass catching backs in the NFL need to be explosive, and Boston Scott has speed to burn.

A cursory look at the leading producers at tight end over the last few years shows a number of players plying their trade on a different team to the one that drafted them / gave them their initial chance in the NFL.
We will look at three players who may struggle to establish a significant role on their current team.

There are three potential wide receivers who might discover that 2018 is indeed their time to shine. All of them were drafted in either the 6th or 7th round and all of them are extremely athletic. One is NFL sophomore Robert Davis, who was the only player drafted by Washington last year not to make the 53-man roster.

Let’s just hope it is athleticism that rises to the top and catapults all three of these individuals towards the spotlight so they can make a name for themselves. If they get the opportunity they deserve, there is a good chance they will run with it.

In a year with a weak rookie wide receiver class by most accounts, NFL fans and the dynasty community were treated to an excellent free agent wide receiver crop, highlighted by Allen Robinson, Sammy Watkins and Jarvis Landry.

Jordan Matthews also scored eight touchdowns in each of his first two seasons. Cleveland has 74 million dollars in cap room, while the New York Giants currently have just under 5 million. That’s a massive difference. The Browns can offer Odell Beckham exactly what he wants monetarily. They can also reunite him with Jarvis Landry.

If Jon Gruden views Jordy Nelson as having the “It” factor and Jay Gruden still views Dez Bryant as a top receiver in the league, there is a chance that Jon also believes in Bryant as elite. The Raiders trading for Bryant would make sense if red zone potential and scoring touchdowns is your main concern.

Standing 6-2 and weighing in at 210-pounds, Jester Weah is one of the few 2018 wide receiver prospects to look the part of an NFL split end/X-receiver. Weah comes with some red flags and isn’t the perfect athlete. However, his strengths far outweigh his weaknesses.

Justin Watson’s best comparable on PlayerProfiler.com is Jordan Matthews. Both Matthews and Watson were dominant in college, both are fast and both have long arms and good hands. Matthews is more agile but Watson has more burst.

J’Mon Moore could be the next Cooper Kupp, who was a 3rd-round deal, and since Moore will not get drafted until later, he could be a late-round steal. If Moore can somehow land on a team that believes in his talent and gives him the opportunity, he could be dynasty gold.
