Tales from the Underworld 2: 2020 Mock Dynasty Startup Draft

by Ray Marzarella, February 26, 2020

We can’t ignore the positive situational headwind Christian McCaffrey is facing. For instance, a quarterback upgrade is on the horizon. That may be a healthy Cam Newton, or it may be an impending free agent signing. Carolina also brought in head coach Matt Rhule and offensive coordinator Joe Brady, both seem to fit the mold of the modern-day NFL coach. McCaffrey is also entering his uber prime. In short, he’s the clear 1.01 over Saquon Barkley in all formats.

Despite the Vikings averaging 30.9 (No. 31) Team Pass Plays per game, a number which should go up in 2020, Stefon Diggs finished with 28 (No. 5 among qualified wide receivers) Deep Targets and 846 (No. 9) Completed Air Yards. Even if he switches teams and returns to his old role as a splash play possession receiver, his career efficiency has been sticky, evidenced by recording both a positive Production Premium and Target Premium in four of his five pro seasons.

Antonio Gibson & Lynn Bowden are Dynamic All-Purpose 2020 NFL Draft Prospects

by Clint Hale, February 25, 2020

As a freshman, Antonio Gibson scored 10 touchdowns in 10 games and saw action as a rusher, receiver, and kick returner. Gibson had a truly historic senior season in 2019. Since 2007, only eight other players have eclipsed 350 rushing yards and 750 receiving yards in a single collegiate season.

Lynn Bowden had a sophomore breakout campaign in 2018 and posted a 20.9 (40th-percentile among qualified wide receivers) Breakout Age. Don’t be deceived by his 26.3-percent (40th-percentile) College Dominator Rating. He is a nightmare for defenders in open space and that should continue at the next level.

Undervalued 2020 Wide Receiver Prospects Based On Age-Adjusted Data

by Jesse Reeves, February 24, 2020

Denzel Mims has outstanding production from a young age. With the proper draft capital, he provides just as much value as players in the top tier of this class. He had a great week at the Senior Bowl and gave evaluators some added data points against new competition. In theory, this boosted his draft stock and made him a potential day two target.

The age-adjusted metrics show that K.J. Hamler is a production hog. He averaged 29-percent of Penn State’s receiving yards market share and 24-percent of the receptions market share over two seasons. His size will draw speculation, but his speed and 16.1 (71st-percentile among qualified wide receivers) College YPR will spark intrigue as a downfield threat.
