There’s nothing quite like real dynasty fantasy football trades to gauge the market. Real leagues with real managers making real trades with real money on the line. Using the PlayerProfiler Trade Finder, you can look up real trades happening in leagues. I decided to take a look at a handful of trades using this great tool to tell you which side of each I prefer.
Trade 1

12 Team Superflex PPR Scoring
Starting with an interesting, cross-positional trade. Both Alvin Kamara and Brandon Aiyuk have seen their stock fall recently. Kamara because he’s an older running back. Aiyuk, because of his knee injury, and the last time we saw him play, it wasn’t impressive. These two differ greatly in their 2025 projection. Kamara’s role is extremely safe, should produce early, and then we have a concern if he can keep it up for the whole season. Aiyuk, on the other hand, is a second-half of-the-season play, and we hope he can return to form.
In a vacuum, I want the Brandon Aiyuk side of this trade. With Aiyuk being the younger player by three years and playing the position that normally lasts longer, it makes me lean his way. But, this trade does read as a contender vs rebuilder trade.
If I thought I was competing for a championship, I wouldn’t want to have to rely on Aiyuk this year. If I wasn’t planning on competing, I’d rather stash Aiyuk than go into the season with Kamara.
Trade 2

12 Team 1QB Standard Scoring
Jake Ferguson is coming off a disappointing year where many thought he could step up in production even more as the de facto number two target after CeeDee Lamb. Unfortunately, due to an injury to himself and his quarterback, it was a tough year for Ferguson. But now, after being signed to a new contract, there’s some more steam behind him heading into 2024. But he also has new target competition in Dallas with the arrival of George Pickens. This Cowboys’ passing offense could be near the top of the league in production. The question is how much of it will go to Ferguson?
A future second-round pick is a decent price to pay to acquire a starting tight end in dynasty. One that may be a bit too pricey for me. You can likely do better with that second-round pick. I’d rather try to trade for David Njoku or Tucker Kraft. The 2nd may get it done on its own, or you’d have to add very little to seal the deal. The third-round pick in this trade helps soften the blow a bit, but not enough. An end of the third round rookie pick has a very low hit rate.
Trade 3

12 Team 1QB Standard Scoring
If you read my dynasty trade article, you already know I’m interested in buying Darnell Mooney. Mooney has been an underrated player for a long time. Last year, Mooney settled in as a Falcon, almost producing his second career 1,000-yard season while playing next to Drake London. Additionally, there were sections of the season where Mooney and London were producing similarly. A mid-second round pick is too expensive, though.
Even if you believe Darnell Mooney is worth this price, you’re doing yourself a disservice by paying it because the market tells us that you shouldn’t have to. This is why it’s important to monitor different dynasty marketplaces. You can gather an aggregate price to figure out the lowest price point to use when buying players.
I’m a fan of Mooney, but buy him for the appropriate price.
Trade 4

12 Team Superflex Standard Scoring
Two players seemingly headed in different directions. Travis Etienne was highly productive in his second and third years in the NFL, but 2024 saw his opportunity share drop drastically. Now, with a new coaching staff that drafted two more running backs. Etienne’s standing has been in question. Khalil Shakir entered the NFL as a raw slot receiver who then slowly climbed the Bills’ depth chart until leading the team in 2024. With the Bills adding little to the room this year, Shakir is expected to lead the team again.
Travis Etienne‘s projection has a wide range of outcomes. While he could disappoint greatly, he still has a chance to be a difference maker at his position. That’s why I’d take him in this trade. I’ve always been a fan of Shakir, but we have to understand what his ceiling is. Shakir is never going to be a difference maker at his position; he’s a solid flex option.
I’d rather take the shot that Etienne has a valuable role and pay the third-round pick to make the trade happen.
Trade 5

12 Team Superflex PPR Scoring
This is a rare trade. It’s not often you see a quarterback dealt in a superflex league without there being another quarterback on the other side of the deal. Good quarterbacks are in such short supply that it’s hard to trade one without getting one in return. This trade is made even more interesting by the players involved. Garrett Wilson is an obviously talented wide receiver who’s been held down by his surroundings. Baker Mayfield is still reinforcing his reputation since joining the Buccaneers due to his struggles in the couple of years prior.
I don’t say this often, but this is a fair trade. It’s easy to make an argument for either side, and I would bet that each team involved in this trade was looking to specifically upgrade the position they traded for. That’s what would decide the trade for me. If I needed a quarterback, I’d want the Baker Mayfield side. If I needed a wide receiver, I’d want the Garrett Wilson side. The third round pick doesn’t make a lot of difference here.
Trade 6

16 Team 1QB Half PPR Scoring
Sometimes, in 16-team leagues where finding starting-caliber players can be impossible, I understand why someone would want to buy Tyler Lockett. He’s clearly in decline, but he’s not an absolute zero yet, and he’s got a real path for opportunities on the Titans. After Calvin Ridley, the Titans’ pass catchers are unproven. Lockett at least has a history of production to hang his hat on.
Simply put, though, there’s not a chance I’m sending a third-round rookie pick for Tyler Lockett, no matter the circumstance. There’s no real point to it. He’s unlikely to be relevant in 2025, and you can count on him past that. If you think you need to add Lockett to your team because you’re trying to compete and you need one more flex player, I’ve got bad news for you. You’re not a competing team. Any team going into the season that needs Lockett is not competing.
