Week 7 Fantasy Football Start/Sit Advice

Fantasy Football Week 7 Start Sit

A Quick Glance Back…

Week 6 was marked by standout performances from unexpected players, as well as a rash of injuries to some of our favorite fantasy players. Most notable among the injured are Puka Nacua, Marvin Harrison Jr., and Emeka Egbuka.

I had the usual mixed bag of results from my suggestions last week. What stood out most was how Tetairoa McMillan was able to come through for managers with just three receptions on five targets! Thankfully, two of those catches were made in the end zone.

Week 7 is quickly upon us! Given what we’ve learned so far, and the ever-shrinking number of players at our disposal, let’s see what we can discern from the upcoming matchups.

Quarterback

Start: Caleb Williams

Coming off a good performance in a plus matchup last week, Caleb Williams and the Bears are set to host the New Orleans Saints in another plus matchup on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.

Williams has shown significant overall improvement in his second year as a pro, thanks in large part to the Bears’ new offensive-minded head coach, Ben Johnson.

Caleb Williams‘ Advanced Efficiency Metrics

Chicago’s Week 7 opponent has allowed the fourth-most points to opposing quarterbacks. Look for the former Trojan to scramble some more this week, as the Saints’ defense has also allowed the fourth-most rushing yards to the position. Williams is the QB7 in our weekly rankings. Let’s get him into our lineups!

Honorable Mention: Jared Goff

Sit: Jaxson Dart

The rookie quarterback from Ole Miss has certainly given a much-needed boost to the New York Giants. Jaxson Dart dazzled the struggling Eagles’ defense last week in the Meadowlands, completing 68% of his passes and scoring two touchdowns, with one of them coming on the ground.

In Week 7, however, the assignment gets tougher, as the G-Men travel west to Denver to take on the Broncos. The Broncos have allowed the second-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks this season. Let’s see how the exciting rookie does on the road … but from our bench this week.

Honorable Mention: Daniel Jones

Running Back

Start: Quinshon Judkins

Quinshon Judkins‘ Athletic Profile

Ok, maybe my “Honorable Mention” from a week ago left us wanting a little bit more. Indeed, Quinshon Judkins scored only 3.6 fantasy points last week. It was the first single-digit output in his young career, and it came against one of the NFL’s better run defenses.

A much more advantageous matchup is in store for Judkins in Week 7, as the Miami Dolphins come to Cleveland. The Dolphins have allowed a league-worst 806 yards on the ground. Expect a strong bounceback from the former Buckeye this week.

Honorable Mentions: Jaylen Warren, Woody Marks

Sit: Tony Pollard

Tony Pollard has been able to put up double-digit scores in only three of six weeks this season, and hasn’t finished higher than RB15, which was back in Week 3. Two weeks ago, the Titans welcomed the oft-injured Tyjae Spears back into the fold. Last week, Spears saw an increase in volume and production, seeing nine total touches to Pollard’s twelve. Neither player saw a significant amount of usage in what should have been a favorable matchup against the Raiders. The teams’ struggles led to the firing of their head coach, Brian Callahan, almost immediately following the game. It will be interesting to see how the team responds in the coming weeks.

Week 7 is a matchup to avoid, however, as the Titans are set to host the New England Patriots. The Patriots have allowed the fifth-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing running backs. Let’s see how the interim coach, Mike McCoy, deploys the two halfbacks before trusting Pollard in our lineups again.

Honorable Mentions: Isiah Pacheco, Michael Carter

Wide Receiver

Start: Courtland Sutton

Through six weeks, Courtland Sutton has posted two WR1 finishes and two WR2 finishes. However, the other two weeks (Week 2 vs. IND and last week vs. NYJ) were real stinkers, giving managers less than three fantasy points. The weeks of poor fantasy production can be directly linked to a sizable reduction in volume, as Sutton saw only four targets in Week 2 and just three last week in that tough-to-watch game in London.

Courtland Sutton‘s Explosive Rating

In Week 7, the Broncos will look to get their offense back on track against the New York Giants. The Giants allow the second-most PPR points per game to opposing wideouts. Look for quarterback Bo Nix to target his No. 1 wide receiver early and often.

Honorable Mentions: Rome Odunze, Ladd McConkey

Sit: Devonta Smith

Devonta Smith has had an up-and-down start to his 2025 campaign. This shouldn’t come as news, as this has been the case for the former Heisman Trophy winner since he entered the league. If you happen to be one of those folks who likes to find patterns in the game logs, you might think Smith is in line for a “boom” game. But there is a little more going on with the Eagles than the normal variance that comes with lining up opposite A.J. Brown. Making matters worse, the Eagles’ offense has been terribly inefficient for weeks, ranking 30th in total yards.

Week 7 pits Smith and the Eagles against the Minnesota Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium. The Vikings have allowed the fewest fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers. Let’s seek out another option for our WR2 and/or flex spots if at all possible.

Honorable Mentions: Jakobi Meyers, Josh Downs

Tight End

Start: Harold Fannin Jr.

The Cleveland Browns’ rookie tight end is our TE7 this week and has impressed thus far in his rookie season. Harold Fannin Jr. earned a season-high ten targets last week in Pittsburgh, due in part to fellow tight end David Njoku missing snaps throughout the game. Njoku had been battling an apparent knee injury that would ultimately keep him on the sideline in the fourth quarter.

Harold Fannin Jr.‘s Opportunity Metrics

Both tight ends have benefited from the team’s decision to go to rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel. Both are behind only Jerry Jeudy in targets, and Jeudy has been inefficient with his opportunities, to say the least. Should Njoku miss Week 7 or be limited in any way, Fannin would be primed to see an elite-level target share.

The matchup isn’t bad either, as the Browns’ Week 7 opponent, the Miami Dolphins, has allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends. Keep an eye on Njoku’s status as Sunday approaches. While Fannin is a decent option this week either way, should Njoku be out, the rookie would be a must-start.

Honorable Mention: Hunter Henry

Sit: Theo Johnson

The New York Giants’ second-year tight end has flashed in his second season. In Week 4 and Week 5, he scored 10.7 and 21.3 PPR fantasy points, respectively. In those two weeks, and at times in other games, the traits that earned him an Athleticism Score of 118.2 have been on full display. Last week, Johnson faced the Eagles, who have allowed the third-fewest points to his position. He garnered only four targets, of which he caught half for only 27 yards.

Similar to his quarterback, Theo Johnson has another tough matchup in Week 7. The Denver Broncos have allowed the fourth-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends. While it is a safe bet that Johnson will have good weeks in his future, let’s leave him on the bench this week.

Honorable Mention: T.J. Hockenson
