Eleven wide receivers entering the NFL Draft have a Breakout Age of 19.0 years or younger, the phenom WR line of demarcation.
Lance Lenoir had over 1000 receiving yards for 3 straight years at Western Illinois, and the consistency with which he dominated in college is promising. Lance Lenoir is the best of the worst.
When I hear the name Ishmael Zamora, I think of a wide receiver who has a name of somebody sent from another galaxy to planet earth to dominate the gridiron. That’s not a knock on his name whatsoever, his name literally sounds like that of a superhero.
Ishmael Zamora was relatively productive in his final season at Baylor and now looks to turn his advanced stats & metrics profile into NFL productivity.
The tight end position has turned into an ever-evolving, dynamic position that is now used in multiple ways among NFL offenses. Long gone are the days of tight ends exclusively lining up on the line next to the tackle, as we now see tight ends lined up all over the field, dominating the passing game like a top wide receiver.
Adam Shaheen is a giant of a man who posted a 4.79 40-yard dash time (43rd-percentile) and possesses a far more impressive HaSS of 107.8 (79th-percentile). Shaheen’s 11.47 Agility Score (63rd-percentile), while not overly impressive in a vacuum, is impressive considering his incredible bulk.
Featuring both an 80-plus percentile Height-adjusted Speed Score (HaSS) and College Dominator Rating, Brian Quick is one of the best small-school wide receiver prospects to ever enter the NFL. Yet, Quick’s inevitable breakout was far from inevitable.
If you’re looking for a sleeper that’s practically hibernating, look no further than Erik Swoope. Sure, it’s hard to find that next great low-profile tight end, but all the stars are aligning for a Swoope breakout.
D’Onta Foreman declared for the NFL Draft after a monster junior season where he rushed for 2,028 yards and 15 touchdowns, while averaging 6.3 (77th-percentile) Yards Per Carry.
Despite his production, Foreman must prove that he can catch the football and cure his fumble-itis in order to make an impact at the NFL level.
DeAngelo Yancey’s muted his college production, combined with an interesting athletic profile, makes him a possible late round addition to a dynasty team with a deep roster or taxi squad.
DeAngelo Yancey’s final year of production is similar to JuJu Smith-Schuster’s junior year. More interestingly, Yancey and Smith-Schuster share a Breakout Age and Yancey has a higher College Dominator Rating.
Taywan Taylor’s three-consecutive seasons with a 17.0-plus yard per reception at the college level is one of the most impressive accomplishments among the NFL Draft-eligible wide receivers in 2017.
Taywan Taylor’s closest comparable player according to PlayerProfiler is Doug Baldwin, another NFL wide receiver who also relies on agility and quickness despite his lackluster Speed Score.
Signing DeSean Jackson was football’s version of cold fusion providing the Buccaneers’ passing game with a field-stretching wide receiver who must be accounted for on every offensive play, which will in turn, provide higher quality targets for Mike Evans.
The Oakland Raiders have one of the best offensive lines in football, yet Murray was never able to take full advantage, averaging 4.6 and 4.2 Yards Per Touch over the past two seasons. Murray’s 115.8 (96th-percentile) Speed Score indicate he should be able to break long runs, yet he managed a mere seven in 2016.
Forget for just a moment players like Leonard Fournette, Corey Davis, Dalvin Cook, Mitchell Trubisky, etc. You’ve done all of your reading on them, and the media machine around you has far too often beaten you over the head with the names and metrics of these players.
What about the lesser-known, lower hype guys? That’s what you should be asking yourself. How are you possibly going to enjoy the 2017 NFL Draft, much less dominate your upcoming fantasy drafts when all you’ve done is hung your hat on the big names and forgotten the underdogs?
Malachi Dupre’s 32.3-percent College Dominator Rating is higher than his raw stats suggest. Most encouragingly, Durpre’s 18.9 Breakout Age places him in the 91st-percentile and points to a young, potentially productive NFL player.
Malachi Dupre possesses top-flight wide receiver athleticism, but his lack of college production is a concern based on his advanced stats & metrics profile.
