Welcome to the first installment of FastDraft Diaries! Over the course of the next few months, I will be giving a breakdown of my Flex 4 FastDraft results. Also, I’ll be looking at ADPs, observing rookie risers and fallers, keeping a pulse on the live drafts, and more! I want to start this series off by posting my results from last year, so let’s get started!

My Top Scoring Flex 4 Roster
My top team on FastDraft from last season finished 11th, and it was a near-perfect roster. Ja’Marr Chase was given the 2X booster, which you will see as you read on. Chase wasn’t the only top dog on this team, as he was paired with Saquon Barkley, who was given the 1.75X booster. James Cook and Derrick Henry were strong contributors.
I was less than 100 points away from first place.
I realize too that I could have gone a million different ways with my last pick, but I chose Christian Kirk. If he had stayed healthy—or if I had gotten Brian Thomas Jr. instead—things would have ended differently!
16th Place Finish
My second highest finish was at 16th, and it was similar to the roster above. Chase with the Big Booster, paired with James Cook and Derrick Henry in the middle. The big change was that I had Devon Achane in at the 1.75 boost, and he was fine, but he didn’t perform as well as Barkley at the same spot.
Achane and the Dolphins offense struggled whenever Tua Tagovailoa was out, but when he was active, Achane was averaging over 20 fantasy points per game. Despite me being a zero RB guy last offseason, these top two teams were RB heavy.
25th Place Finish
My third highest finish on FastDraft, and we have more WRs on this team than the first two teams combined. This team had Jahmyr Gibbs and Jacobs as the only RBs. Chase, Malik Nabers, Amari Cooper, and Tee Higgins round out the roster. Higgins had five games where he scored 18 points or more, but also missed five games this season, which hurt his overall production.
Amari Cooper missed time as well, but this team revealed the power of putting the right player in the right booster. Chase, Gibbs, and Nabers carried this team to the finish.
37th Place Finish
Finally, a team without Ja’Marr Chase! Bijan Robinson was given the big boost, but after a strong observation, you will see that Saquon, who was given the 1.75 booster, outscored Bijan. Barkley had a phenomenal season. The only receiver on this team was Zay Flowers, who finished the season as a high-end WR 3 in total fantasy points.
This RB-heavy build benefitted from having four of the top five highest-scoring running backs in the 2024 season!
41st Place Finish
This is the last team I’ll review, and this team finished 41st. The team started strong with Chase, Gibbs, and Henry, but then it fell off with D.K. Metcalf and Christian Kirk.
Alvin Kamara was a fine selection there, finishing 10th among running backs in total fantasy points scored. The trio of Metcalf, Kamara, and Kirk combined to score only two more points than Jahmyr Gibbs.
2024 Flex 4 breakdown:
Max entered (150 entries, $750)
71 teams finished with winnings: Won $1,939 in total
Final thoughts
These teams all benefited from having Ja’Marr Chase as the captain, and it paid off massively. Four of my top five finishing teams had Chase at the 2X booster. We got insanely lucky with injuries, and we went against consensus on grabbing running backs often. When drafting these teams, I drafted with conviction but with a willingness to admit I was wrong.
I loved Chase going into last week, but I was also a zero RB truther. So, I drafted with conviction while drafting Chase early and often. But I married that conviction with a willingness to admit that I needed to hammer running back in the second round and later. This is the most important lesson.

Draft with both conviction and humility. Understand that you, the one listening to podcasts and reading articles on fantasy football in the offseason, you know ball. There are opinions that you have on players that will be validated in the upcoming season. But there is a balance, and there are many opinions that will be rendered useless as the season plays on. During this article series, I’ll share my thoughts on players and team environments and show the teams I draft with reasons as to why I am drafting them. I’ve begun drafting for 2025, and its time for you as well. Now let’s get drafting!
