Dynasty fantasy football is all about finding the right players in the perfect situation and piling up the fantasy points before the opportunity is gone. Wide receivers and tight ends can continue to produce meaningful numbers (See Travis Kelce and Davante Adams) late into their careers. Unfortunately, it is a much smaller window of fantasy production for running backs. I have identified four running backs to target that you can build your dynasty team around. These backs are in a window of opportunity, set up to produce immediately in 2026 and beyond as you make a push for the ‘chip. Time is fleeting, so let’s strike while the iron is hot!

Rookie Ride Along
Jeremiyah Love | RB, Arizona Cardinals | ADP 18 (RB4)
Let’s get started with the consensus 1.01 from rookie drafts. Nestled in as the fourth running back in ADP data is my obvious first choice, Jeremiyah Love. Love has two things going for his dynasty stock — his natural ability that made him rocket up rookie draft boards this offseason, and the impending quarterback upgrade that is coming to Arizona. The odds of the Cardinals having rookie Carson Beck, Jacoby Brissett, or Gardner Minshew leading the team in 2027 are highly unlikely, which would mean that the team should get a massive step up at quarterback next season.

Love is the clear pass-catching back in the offense as well, putting him in a position to stay on the field late in games where the Cardinals are losing. Sportsbooks have settled into a win total of three to four games while projecting them as underdogs in all 17 games. They project to trail and lose for most of the season. If Love can prove to be above average in a poor offense this season, you will see an Ashton Jeanty-like ADP for Love in 2027. He’s got immense talent and is placed in a situation that can only improve. Love also benefits from being with an offense-minded head coach in Mike LaFleur, who has spent the last two seasons as the Los Angeles Rams’ offensive coordinator. This is an environment that will flourish over time, and Love has the potential to be the centerpiece of this newly renovated offense.
Gimme the Yachts
Javonte Williams | RB, Dallas Cowboys | ADP 70 (RB18)
Javonte Williams is a polarizing player in dynasty leagues. Some like the fit and his current situation with Dallas, while others point to a handful of below-average analytical statistics. Allow me to present a positive case for buying Javonte. Firstly, Williams leads the backfield with Malik Davis, Jaydon Blue, and Phil Mafah. Not one of them is a threat to take meaningful snaps away from Williams. Secondly, Dallas has three first-rounders on the offensive line, paving the way for the running game against any defense. This offense will continue to evolve under Brian Schottenheimer and Dak Prescott, and the receivers will stress defenses enough to lighten the box. I am aware that his analytical profile isn’t perfect, but he finished 15th in evaded tackles, ninth in breakaway runs, and 13th in yards created.
Lastly, the Cowboys signed Javonte to a three-year contract, solidifying his status as the team’s RB1. There are still holes on the defensive side of the ball that the team will need to address before spending big on free-agent money or draft capital at running back. Javonte is only 26, and with minimal usage early in his NFL career, there’s plenty of tread left on the tires.
King Kong Got Nothin’ on Me
David Montgomery | RB, Houston Texans | ADP 109 (RB28)
After spending his whole career in the NFC North, David Montgomery enters a new phase with the Houston Texans. The Texans addressed their own offensive line issues by signing All-Pro guard Wyatt Teller, Braden Smith, and 1st-round rookie center Keylan Rutledge, and loading up the offensive line with players whose primary ability is run blocking, which benefits Montgomery’s style greatly compared to handcuff Woody Marks. Not to mention, Marks visited the injury tent more than a dozen times last season while he was thrust into the starting role with Nick Chubb struggling through the season.

Look for Montgomery to be the leader in carries and snaps for the immediate future. Last season was the first season for Monty in which he finished with fewer than 10 fantasy points per game, and it was also his lowest career total in touches. That was less on him and more about the generational talent of Jahmyr Gibbs. Marks is nowhere near the same caliber of player that Gibbs is, and he will not command the touches that an elite player would receive.

Rachaad White | RB, Washington Commanders | ADP177 (RB47)
I understand that Rachaad White has his limitations as a player, but there’s no way his ADP should be this low. Rachaad joins the Commanders after spending his first four years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the depth chart is wide open for him to be the lead guy. Here’s a list of the running backs of the Commanders:
Jacory Croskey-Merritt (2025 7th round draft pick), Kaytron Allen (2026 6th round draft pick), and Jerome Ford (2022 5th round draft pick).

White is the only running back on the roster who was drafted before the 4th round. He is also a proven pass catcher, which makes it difficult to pull him off the field on obvious passing downs. With no clear offensive threats behind Terry McLaurin, we should not be surprised if White finishes in the top 3 in total targets on the team. The other plus of his pass-catching talent is that if the team does go out to sign a running back in the future, they may want to get more of a grinder to complement Rachaad’s style of play. The buzz out of Washington has been generally positive, and if Jayden Daniels can remain healthy, the entire offense will benefit from his abilities. I’m bullish on Rachaad for 2026.
