NFL DFS Week 14 | Can Jake Browning Keep It Up?

by Kelly Singh · Prop Plays
Week 14 DFS

Welcome back! Last week was a rough one for injuries, especially that of Rhamondre Stevenson. It’s a brand new week, so let’s talk about the best DFS picks for Sunday’s Week 14 Main Slate. Whether you play Cash Games or GPP Tournaments, you’ll find advice based on the data to help give you an edge over the competition.  I’ll even drop a few of my favorite prop plays! Are you ready? Let’s get into it.

DFS Week 14 QB Picks

Brock Purdy ($6.5K DraftKings / $8.1K FanDuel)

He was in my article last week, and I’m bringing Brock Purdy back again. He comes with a manageable salary on DraftKings, but I find it a bit high on FanDuel. He’s projected for 19.5 fantasy points on both platforms and is facing a Seattle Defense that ranks near the bottom. Purdy became the 3rd QB in NFL history (Tom Brady, 2007 and Aaron Rodgers, 2011) with four games of three or more touchdown passes and a 140 or better rating in a single season. He also currently leads the league in Passer Rating.

Justin Fields ($6.8K DraftKings / $7.9K FanDuel)

Justin Fields is starting to get a little more respect in DFS circles. His salary is still quite manageable on both platforms and he’s projected for 19 FPPG. The Bears are up against a Lions defense that’s been struggling. They’re allowing the 24th most points in the league (34 per game). It’s a great opportunity for Fields to capitalize. There’s some serious history between the Fields and the Lions. Three of his five career games with 100 or more rushing yards have come versus Detroit, and he aims for his fourth in a row against them with a touchdown pass and 100 or more rushing yards.

Jake Browning ($5.2K DraftKings / $6.5K FanDuel)

This might be my favorite play of the week. Jake Browning really lit up the field in Week 13. I’m anxious to see if he can do it again! After this week, he could join Chad Pennington as the only other quarterback since 1950 with a 70-percent or better Completion Percentage and a 95 or better Passer Rating in each of his first three career starts. That’s so impressive!

I love the super manageable salary here and I also love the arsenal of weapons Browning has to work with on the Bengals offense. He’s facing a Colts defense that ranks No. 25 overall.

DFS Week 14 RB Picks

Christian McCaffrey ($9.2K DraftKings / $10.5K FanDuel)

If you’re playing in a Cash Game, you’ll want to try and fit Christian McCaffrey into your lineup. You might even want to play him in GPP games if it works with your overall strategy. Why? Because he comes projected for more FPPG than any other running back this week, by far – 22 on DraftKings and 20 on FanDuel.

The next closest points scorer is projected to be Alvin Kamara – 16 FPPG projected on DraftKings and 14 FPPG on FanDuel. The matchup is also extremely optimal for McCaffrey; he is up against the Seattle defense discussed earlier. They rank No. 21 against running backs.

Javonte Williams ($5.8K DraftKings / $6.6K FanDuel)

Javonte Williams has an extremely manageable salary for a play with a lot of upside. Projected for 13.3 FPPG on DraftKings and 11.8 on FanDuel, he is facing a weak Chargers defense, and has had 70 or more scrimmage yards in five of his past six games. That sounds like a great prop bet opportunity, too! I’ll be looking for the over in rushing plus passing yards at 70 or less. I’ll also be looking at three or more receptions.

Zack Moss ($5.9K DraftKings / $6.8K FanDuel)

This week, Zack Moss is facing a Bengals defense that ranks No. 27 in the league against running backs. This could be his third game in a row with 50 or more rushing yards. I’ll be making that into a prop bet, too. Moss will be in most DFS manager’s lineups this week, due to the manageable salary and fairly high points projection (14 DK/13 FD), so keep that in mind if your tournament strategy involves playing players with a low rostership.

DFS Week 14 WR Picks

Brandon Aiyuk ($6.9K DraftKings / $7.7K FanDuel)

Brandon Aiyuk was in last week’s article and he’s here again this week for good reason. Mainly, this could be his fifth game in a row with a receiving touchdown. Aiyuk is a good bet this week as an “anytime touchdown scorer”.

San Francisco is facing a weak Seattle defense, which I’ve harped on enough. I do find it quite interesting that Aiyuk’s DFS salary came down a couple of hundred dollars between this week and last. I’ll consider it a gift, rather than a trap. He’s projected for 14.9 fantasy points on DraftKings and 12.5 on Fanduel.

Davonte Adams ($7.5K DraftKings / $7.4K FanDuel)

I always find it to be good luck when the salary differences between DraftKings and FanDuel are very close, even moreso when DraftKings is just a little higher. Davonte Adams is up against a Vikings defense that’s pretty mediocre defending the pass, ranking No. 18.

This could be Adams’ fourth game in a row with five or more catches and 70 or more receiving yards. He’s projected for 14.6 fantasy points on DraftKings and 11.9 on FanDuel.

Drake London ($4.6K DraftKings / $6.4K FanDuel)

Drake London has an extremely manageable salary this week against a Tampa Bay defense that ranks No. 27 overall. They’re even worse against receivers, ranking No. 28 in the league. London’s fantasy points projections are higher than those of other receivers in his tier for Week 14 (11.7 DK/9.5 FD). Let’s take advantage of that! He’s had five or more catches in seven of his past eight games at home. This could be his fifth game in a row at home with five or more catches and 65 or more receiving yards. I’ll be using this data to form some prop bets.

DFS Week 14 TE Picks

Sam LaPorta ($6.1K DraftKings / $7.2K FanDuel)

Sam LaPorta has a great matchup this week. He’s up against a Bears defense that ranks No. 25 in defending the pass. LaPorta is projected to bring 12.8 FPPG on DraftKings and 12.3 on FanDuel. He currently has 64 catches and could become the 3rd rookie TE ever with 70 or more receptions in his rookie season.

Gerald Everett ($3.4K DraftKings / $5.7K FanDuel)

We’ve got quite a price discrepancy between DraftKings and FanDuel this week for Gerald Everett. That means his rostership will be far higher on DraftKings because of the bargain pricing, but it may be worth it to scrape up a few flex points.

Everett is projected for 7.2 FPPG on DraftKings and 5.7 on FanDuel. The Chargers are facing the Broncos, who have the number 30th-ranked overall defense in the league.

DFS Week 14 DEF/DST Pick

Cleveland Browns ($3.0K DraftKings / $3.8K FanDuel)

My favorite defense for Week 14 is the Cleveland Browns. They’re priced right where I’d like them to be and they’re projected to bring in far more fantasy points than other teams in that tier (8.1 FPPG). As far as ranking, they’re actually ranked No. 1 overall in the league currently. They’re facing Jacksonville, who have an elite running back room. Defending the run appears to be the Browns only (slight) weakness; they arnk No. 18 against the run.
