Xavier Worthy’s Strong Finish Sets Up Big 2025 Fantasy Outlook for Chiefs WR
As the Kansas City Chiefs head into the Wild Card Weekend with a bye after securing the #1 seed in the AFC, rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy is one to watch in the postseason. Worthy finished his regular season with 59 catches for 638 yards and six touchdowns, emerging as a key piece of the Chiefs’ offense, especially down the stretch. He’s been a playmaker since Week 10, averaging 13.9 fantasy points per game, with his production heating up late in the year. Over his last three games, Worthy posted at least 19.6 PPR fantasy points in each contest, and with an extra week of rest thanks to the Chiefs’ bye, he could be primed to make an impact in the divisional round. For fantasy gamers with eyes on the playoffs, Worthy’s role in the offense should only grow, and he could provide some much-needed firepower for Kansas City as they push for another Super Bowl.
Looking ahead to 2025, there’s plenty of optimism for Worthy’s future in both real-life and fantasy football. As his chemistry with Patrick Mahomes continues to develop, Worthy has the potential to take on an even larger role in the Chiefs’ high-powered offense, especially with fellow wide receiver Rashee Rice set to return from injury. If he continues to build on his late-season surge, Worthy could be knocking on the door of a top-20 Dynasty wide receiver ranking by 2025. With both him and Rice potentially at full strength, the Chiefs’ passing game could be even more dynamic, providing a significant boost to Patrick Mahomes’ fantasy value as he looks to lead the Chiefs to more championships.

The Kansas City Chiefs trade up with the Buffalo Bills to take Xavier Worthy at 28th overall.
They say speed kills in football, and Xavier Worthy from Texas is as fast as they come. The Kansas City Chiefs moved up to get Worthy at 28th overall after a draft night trade with the Buffalo Bills. With an NFL Combine record 4.21 second 40-time, Worthy and his blazing speed will add yet another dynamic to the reigning Super Bowl Champions.
Immediately impactful as a freshman in 2021, Worthy has consistently produced in college at an elite level. Worthy averaged 918 yards, 65.6 catches, and 8.6 TDs over three collegiate years. Besides his speed, Worthy possesses quick twitch ability, good route-running, and excellent ball tracking skills at full speed. His most notable weakness is his frame (165 lbs), affecting his ability to win contested catches and succeed against press coverage.
Ever since losing Tyreek Hill, the Chiefs have lacked the elite speed element that was so instrumental to their success between 2017-2021. Xavier Worthy will bring that explosiveness back by joining the newly signed Hollywood Brown and future Hall of Fame TE, Travis Kelce, as the primary weapons for Patrick Mahomes. Remember that one of Andy Reid’s favorites was DeSean Jackson in his Eagles tenure. Worthy could be a similar boom-bust player, with the potential to bring game-breaking stats to fantasy matchups, especially in best ball.
The former Texas star wideout proved he is “Worthy” of a spot on your fantasy team after breaking the 40-yard dash record at the NFL scouting combine.
After running a record-setting 4.21-second 40-yard dash on his second attempt at the 2024 NFL Combine, former Texas standout Xavier Worthy cemented himself as a potential first-round pick and an extreme fantasy sleeper. Coming out of school, it was established that the 5’11, 165-pound Worthy could run. Just how fast? Well, fast enough to surpass John Ross, who had held the former 40-yard dash record since 2017 at 4.22 seconds.
Having been part of an elite receiving duo for Longhorns signal-caller Quinn Ewers alongside Adonai Mitchell this past season, Worthy immediately serves as the perfect complementary piece and asset to your fantasy roster. Although Worthy has a slight frame – especially for NFL standards – his game-breaking speed and off-the-charts athleticism make him a viable target in all formats. This was evident in his 10’11” broad jump and 41-inch vertical. Furthermore, only Clemson’s Nate Wiggins (4.28) ran faster than 4.33 seconds at the combine, further illustrating the kind of next-level athleticism Xavier Worthy possesses.
Texas Wide Receiver Xavier Worthy breaks the NFL combine record with a blazing 4.21 40-Yard Dash.
Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy shatters the NFL combine record for the 40-yard dash by running a “blink and you’ll miss it,” 4.21 seconds! His 10 yard split was also the fastest at 1.49 seconds! Worthy proves to be absolutely explosive by jumping a 41 inch vertical and a 10’11” broad jump. Worthy measured in at 5’11” and weighed 165 lbs.
Xavier Worthy comps really well to a Desean Jackson with his size and speed. Worthy started as a true freshman for Texas and in 3 seasons he totaled 197 catches, 2,755 receiving yards, and 26 touchdowns. The speed demon has likely ran his way up into the 1st round of the 2024 NFL Draft. NFL teams have a need for speed like hungry babies need mother’s milk!
Dynasty players are tripping over each other trying to see how they can land Worthy after his 40-yard dash was submitted. All fantasy players shall jump and scream if Worthy lands on the Bills, Chargers, or any team whose QB has a rocket launcher for an arm.
