Joe Mixon on Track for the Start of Training Camp
4 days ago

With a July 23rd start, Joe Mixon is expected to be ready for training camp.

Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon is expected to be ready for the start of training camp on July 23rd. There has been some concern over his foot and ankle which haven’t been helped by the signing of Nick Chubb and the drafting of USC’s Woody Marks.

The good news for Mixon heading into 2025 is that last season he was 5th in opportunity share at 77.7% and 9th in fantasy points per game at 17.2. Unfortunately, Mixon showed signs of slowing down late last season as he finished from the RB27-RB52 in the final 4 weeks.

Mixon will soon be 29 and is an asset to sell in dynasty before he falls off from his prime. Nick Chubb will take away some series on gameday and Wood Marks is a natural fit for the passing down role and hurry up offense. He goes in round 5 on Underdog right behind Saints running back Alvin Kamara and Broncos running back RJ Harvey. At ADP, there are several other better options considering the direction Mixon is headed in.

Woody Marks Drafted to the Texans in Round 4
2 months ago

Houston Texans use the 116th draft pick to select Woody Marks in the 4th round, adding a pass catching running back as the 3rd skill position player they drafted this year

Woody Marks adds a complimentary skillset to the Houston, as an undersized back at 5’10” and 207 lbs, that did not impress with his speed or burst at the combine, Marks can primarily contribute to the passing game out of the backfield. Marks is one of the oldest prospects in this draft at 24 years old, but he should use that experience to try making an immediate impact.

Marks has a chance to compete with Joe Mixon and Dameon Pierce in a year that should see a strong resurgence for CJ Stroud and the overall offense. Houston already selected both Iowa State receivers this year, Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel, to add to Nico Collins.  While the offense should be much improved, touch competition and his age at draft are signs of concern for Mark’s Dynasty outlook. He should push Damien Pierce aside through the year, but there is no Guarantee that Mixon will be off the team any time soon.

Sleeper Running Back Woody Marks Shows Well at the NFL Combine
4 months ago

Woody is leaving his Mark at the 2025 NFL Combine.

The depth of the 2025 rookie running back class cannot be understated. The class is led Ashton Jeanty and the next few running backs would normally be ranked at the top back in the class. An underrated back who will go later in rookie drafts is USC’s Woody Marks.

Marks came away with a 4.54 40-yard dash. His 35’’ vertical and 9’11’’ broad jump lend credence to his play on the field. From 2022-2024 Marks had 46, 24, and 47 receptions respectively. His 2023 season he played only 9 games. Marks will be a perfect 3rd down back who can provide extra juice in the receiving game.

While Marks is on track to be a day 3 selection in the NFL Draft, it is no knock on his skill set as there are so many other talented running backs to choose from. It will be tougher for Marks to slide under the radar after his combine performance.

Woody Marks: 2025 NFL Draft Prospect & Senior Bowl Preview
5 months ago

Woody Marks declared for the NFL draft after five seasons in college and is attending the 2025 Senior Bowl.

Woody Marks spent his first four seasons at Mississippi State, catching an insane 143 passes from the backfield across his freshman and sophomore seasons. He spent his final college season at USC, rushing for 1,133 yards and 9 TDs along with 47 catches. Marks has good vision and patience, but still struggled overall with efficiency, averaging 5 yards per carry and under 6 yards per catch for his college career.

While Marks isn’t likely to blow anybody away with his athletic testing numbers, he’s got a smooth and intuitive style to his game that will show itself best during drills and games. The closest player comparisons determined from my film review in terms of running style was a mix of Devin Singletary and Bucky Irving.

Marks is worth keeping an eye on during the Senior Bowl and leading up to the NFL draft for Dynasty Managers.
