High Value Touch Index – Week 12

by Mark Kieffer · Value Plays

The High Value Touch DFS Index is here to help you find the best plays for the dollar in DFS. This is done by looking at leaders in Carries Inside The 10-Yard Line Per Game and Targets Inside The 10-Yard Line Per Game and comparing their prices on DraftKings and FanDuel to create a rating. We weigh targets higher than carries and take it a step further to weigh it higher on DraftKings (PPR scoring) vs. FanDuel (Half PPR scoring). We look at these touches close to the end zone because touchdowns lead to fantasy points, and fantasy points lead to cashing our lineups in DFS!

This is a smaller slate, 10 games, so naturally, there are fewer options. This week’s list has names we have seen here before and it should be an interesting week!

Top 5 Values:

5) Darrell Henderson: $5,800 on DraftKings, $7,300 on FanDuel

High Value Touch Index – DraftKings: 22.41 (No. 5)
High Value Touch Index – FanDuel: 18.48 (No. 8)

Carries Inside The 10-Yard Line: 1.33 per game
Targets Inside The 10-Yard Line: 0.33 per game
Red Zone Snap Share: 72.58 percent

Darrell Henderson 2021 Opportunity Metrics

Darrell Henderson is a better play on DraftKings than FanDuel coming in at a very reasonable price on the site. His 1.33 carries inside the 10-yard line per game are tied for No. 16 among all running backs and tied for No. 8 out of running backs on the slate. His 0.33 targets inside the 10-yard line per game is No. 7 among running backs on the slate.

Henderson plays a lot of snaps, amassing a 75.2-percent (No. 3 among qualified running backs) Snap Share. However, the team does not run the ball much. They rank No. 22 in Team Run Plays Per Game, and he is No. 20 among running backs in targets with 3.8 per game. He is someone to have in your player pool for tournaments on both sites. On FanDuel that $7k price tag is going to keep his popularity at bay, and on DraftKings there are other running backs in a similar price range that project to do well this week too.

4) Jordan Howard: $4,800 on DraftKings, $5,600 on FanDuel

High Value Touch Index – DraftKings: 24.17 (No. 4 overall)
High Value Touch Index – FanDuel: 20.71 (No. 3 overall)

Carries Inside The 10-Yard Line: 2.0 per game
Targets Inside The 10-Yard Line: 0 per game
Red Zone Snap Share: 37.29 percent

Jordan Howard is doubtful for the slate, probably someone to remove from your player pool this week. Even with Miles Sanders back, Howard had 10 carries prior to getting injured.  It is only a four-game sample but his 2 carries inside the 10-yard line per game is No. 4 among all running backs.

3) Aaron Jones: $6,000 on DraftKings, $7,000 on FanDuel

High Value Touch Index – DraftKings: 25.73 (No. 3)
High Value Touch Index – FanDuel: 19.27 (No. 4)

Carries Inside The 10-Yard Line: 1.3 per game
Targets Inside The 10-Yard Line: 0.5 per game
Red Zone Snap Share: 68.55 percent

Aaron Jones 2021 Opportunity Metrics

Aaron Jones is another player with health concerns. Jones has been practicing this week. It’s unclear if he will have a limited snap count, and if he will have his normal workload or not. One thing that is for certain is that if he is healthy and he does have his normal workload, his price is too low. His 1.3 carries inside the 10-yard line per game are tied for No. 18 among all running backs but his 0.5 targets inside the 10-yard line are tied for No. 2. I will definitely have him in tournaments, I am leery in cash due to his health.

2) Jeff Wilson: $4,800 on DraftKings, $5,900 on FanDuel

High Value Touch Index – DraftKings: 25.85 (No. 2)
High Value Touch Index – FanDuel: 20.26 (No. 3)

Carries Inside The 10-Yard Line: 1.0 per game
Targets Inside The 10-Yard Line: 0.5 per game
Red Zone Snap Share: 76.47 percent

Jeff Wilson is boosted up due to a small sample size. He has played two games, had two carries inside the 10-yard line, and one target inside the 10-yard line. Elijah Mitchell is expected to play and lead the backfield in snaps and touches. It will be interesting to see how the red zone and inside the 10-yard line shake out. For now, Wilson is an avoid for me this week. He is inexpensive and his per-game averages over just two games look good which is why he ranked so high this week.

1) Myles Gaskin: $5,600 on DraftKings, $6,200 on FanDuel

High Value Touch Index – DraftKings: 26.01 (No. 1)
High Value Touch Index – FanDuel: 20.62 (No. 1)

Carries Inside The 10-Yard Line: 1.27 per game
Targets Inside The 10-Yard Line: 0.45 per game
Red Zone Snap Share: 66.35 percent

Myles Gaskin 2021 Game Logs

Myles Gaskin is one of the best value plays of the week. His 0.45 targets inside the 10-yard line are No. 8 among all running backs and No. 6 among running backs on the slate. His production has been very inconsistent; he has scored everything from 0.3 fantasy points in Week 4 to 31.9 fantasy points in Week 5. He averages 12.2 fantasy points per week with a median of 9.5 fantasy points per week. Despite him grading out as one of the better value plays on the slate, the inconsistency with points makes him more of a tournament than cash play for me this week.

Just Missed The Cut

DraftKings: Giovani Bernard (21.50), Leonard Fournette (19.15), Jonathan Taylor (18.96)
FanDuel: Dalvin Cook (18.80), Jonathan Taylor (17.24),  Leonard Fournette (17.24)

Final Thoughts

The index showcases low-dollar running backs that are getting high-value touches inside the 10-yard line. The smaller slate leads to less available options to consider. Aaron Jones, Myles Gaskin, and Darrell Henderson make for interesting tournament plays this week. Jeff Wilson and Jordan Howard are players to remove from your player pool.

We will come back for Week 13 with an update to the index! Best of luck in Week 12!
