The Fantasy Supermarket: Dynasty Buys

by Matty Kiwoom · Dynasty Leagues

Looking for a running back that may be on sale? How about a wide receiver that is being discounted due to bad reviews? Maybe a quarterback or tight end whose price is about to skyrocket? This is the right place. Welcome to the Fantasy Supermarket, dynasty edition.

The players that are in the Fantasy Supermarket have indicators suggesting that now is the right time to buy in dynasty formats. I’ll be using advanced analytics and metrics from PlayerProfiler.com’s Data Analysis Tool to highlight which players are worth buying into. But you have to act now because these current prices will not last long.

Jakobi Meyers

The undrafted wide receiver has come a long way in his professional career. He has posted back-to-back seasons with 800 plus receiving yards and posted a career-high six touchdowns in 2022. Now an unrestricted free agent, Jakobi Meyers is the top-ranked available wide receiver. Rumors are already starting to swirl that he could command a contract comparable to the one Christian Kirk signed this time last year. Regardless of the dollar amount, Meyers is poised to get the bag and fantasy managers should be looking to add him in dynasty before that bomb drops. Because Kirk was so successful on his new team, Meyers’s stock will rise when he inks his big deal. The wideout may not appear to be on sale now, but given the boom his value may see soon, now is the time to buy.

Jakobi Meyers advanced Stats

At first glance, it is easy for fantasy team builders to look past Meyers, but when you look at his analytical profile there is enough to be excited about. Despite being known as a “possession receiver,” Meyers posted a 2.18 Yards per Route Run (No. 19 among qualified wide receivers). He was New England’s most effective pass-catching weapon. This is not a high hurdle to clear but an achievement nevertheless. Meyers accounted for 1.78 Yards per Team Pass Attempt (No. 25) and had a 30.8-percent Dominator Rating (No. 12). He has proven to be a quarterback-friendly player because he finished 2022 with a 117.1 QB Rating per Target (No. 8). Meyers is going to make whatever team, and more importantly quarterback, happy when he signs his next deal. Acquire him now or the price tag may become too high in short order.

2023 First & Second Round Rookie Picks

The NFL Combine is underway, and we are in the thick of rookie season in dynasty. Rookie picks are going to continue to gain value. Workout metrics, landing spot rumors, and pro-days are known to spike values. I like to call these moments ‘launching pads’ because if that player fires when it is their time, then their value skyrockets. Fade the haters because the 2023 rookie class is deep and will produce valuable fantasy players. Fantasy managers will be able to add quality quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends in their rookie drafts. The draft landscape will continue to clear up and historically that drives the prices to acquire rookie picks. So, team builders in fantasy football need to get those fun coupons as soon as possible.

Bijan Robinson highlights a class filled with potential fantasy contributors. Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Jordan Addison, Jahmyr Gibbs, and Quentin Johnston are just a handful of prospects fantasy managers are excited about, but there are many more. In superflex formats, Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, Will Levis, and Anthony Richardson are extremely coveted prospects. The hype train behind the players in this class will gain steam throughout the off-season. With quality prospects like Kendre Miller, Roschon Johnson, Sean Tucker, Zachary Evans, Zay Flowers, Josh Downs, and a number of tight ends potentially available in the second round of rookie drafts even two’s will be highly regarded. I have been running mock drafts on the PlayerProfiler YouTube channel, and the value is there throughout the entire second round. Buy some rookie picks now and watch their value climb.
