Dynasty Trades! | Fantasy Football Trade Targets for the 2023 NFL Season

by Emerson Beery · Dynasty Leagues

The NFL season is right around the corner, and fantasy football managers will be looking to put those final touches on their Dynasty teams. With that in mind, I wanted to discuss one of my favorite topics: Dynasty Trades!  More specifically, I wanted to write about some of my favorite dynasty fantasy football trade targets for the summer. Many of these players are coming off of injury-plagued or disappointing seasons but are poised for a bounce back.

While they may carry a certain amount of risk, this has caused them to go at a massive discount in Dynasty leagues. Thanks for reading and check out PlayerProfiler daily for more fantasy football content.

Top Dynasty Fantasy Football Trade Targets

Kyler Murray – QB – Arizona Cardinals

A lot has been made of Kyler Murray‘s work ethic and performance over the past year. The Cardinal’s offense started slowly in many games last season, and a large percentage of Murray’s fantasy production came when Arizona was significantly behind. This combined with a late-season ACL injury has caused him to tumble down dynasty fantasy football rankings.

As a result, Murray is a massive value, consistently being ranked as a backend QB1 according to many outlets. Despite Murray’s faults, he has still finished top seven among quarterbacks in fantasy points per game for three straight seasons. Furthermore, he was No. 2 in Accuracy Rating and True Completion Percentage in 2022 despite the offense’s struggles.

Murray is clearly a talented passer. What has held back some of that upside though is dwindling rushing volume. His rushing attempts per game have actually decreased each of the last three seasons. Although this is disappointing to fantasy managers, this should have been expected given his size profile.

If this helps Murray stay healthy, it will be worth it because he will be a long-term starter in this league. The ACL injury though could ultimately prevent him from returning to full strength in 2023. He is the best passer among the elite rushing NFL quarterbacks, and he is being valued at an all-time low in dynasty leagues.

Jerry Jeudy – WR – Denver Broncos

Is Jerry Jeudy a Top 15 Fantasy Football Wide Receiver in 2023?

Although Jerry Jeudy has experienced a resurgence in value, he is still valued nowhere near his potential. He entered the NFL with an elite collegiate profile and strong route running ability. Nonetheless, injuries and poor quarterback play led to a disappointing first two seasons in the NFL.

Last year even began as much of the same with Jeudy finishing outside the top 40 fantasy receiver four times in the first six weeks. He rebounded strong though finishing as the WR11 in fantasy points per game since Week 7. Jeudy also was No. 16 in Yards per Route Run which is a great indicator of how productive a receiver was over the course of a season.

While Courtland Sutton will be returning as well, suggestions he would be the alpha receiver were outrageous. Sutton had actually only scored more fantasy points than Jeudy one time when they were on the field together prior to last year. With just one top 40 fantasy wide receiver finish under his belt at age 27, fantasy managers should temper their expectations.

As far as potential dynasty fantasy football trade opportunities, Jeudy is likely highly regarded by his fantasy football owner. If that is the case, then a one for one trade could be difficult. However, using a higher ranked wide receiver to tier down and pick up an additional asset could be a savvy maneuver.

Antonio Gibson – RB – Washington Commanders

Only one year removed from performing as a top 13 fantasy running back two straight seasons, Antonio Gibson is poised for a bounce back. A former collegiate receiver, Gibson also boasts a rare combination of size and speed. This translated to a primary role. Gibson finished No. 4 in rush attempts and No. 20 in target share among running backs in 2021.

Unfortunately, that all changed last season as his Opportunity Share plummeted all the down to No. 39 in the league. A fumbling issue in 2021 contributed to reduced playing time and a career low in rush attempts. Nonetheless, Gibson performed admirably as an RB2 in a limited role for most of the season.

Brian Robinson didn’t do anything to justify taking more touches either. Robinson finished only No. 47 in Yards Created Per Touch. He isn’t a particularly talented ball carrier and will only receive early down work. Eric Bienemy is the new offensive coordinator. Additionally, the coaching staff has already expressed an interest in getting Gibson the ball more.

Given that recent news, he could be hard to acquire in dynasty fantasy football leagues in a one for one trade. He isn’t someone that is worth a first round rookie pick, but could be hard for a manager to let go for only a late second round pick next year. Instead, fantasy managers should focus on a larger deal and look to acquire Gibson as a throw-in. Most owners won’t let Gibson get in the way of a potential blockbuster.

Trey McBride – TE – Arizona Cardinals

The first tight end selected in the 2022 NFL Draft, Trey McBride has largely been forgotten about in fantasy football leagues. He had a strong NFL Combine. Additionally, McBride had a terrific final season at Colorado State in 2021. McBride was the focal point of the offense with a 34-percent target share and 1,121 yards.

However, as a rookie McBride struggled to make an impact playing behind former Pro Bowl tight end Zach Ertz. That all changed in Week 10 when Zach Ertz tore his ACL which caused him to miss the remainder of the year. From that point on McBride played at least 73-percent of the snaps in each game. Furthermore, he remained a consistent part of the offense even with second and third string quarterbacks.

Looking toward 2023, McBride is set up for an excellent opportunity to be one of the top targets in the Cardinals’ offense. DeAndre Hopkins is no longer on the team. Also, tight ends in their mid-thirties don’t typically come back strong from ACL injuries. While McBride may lack elite upside in a lackluster offense, a top 12 fantasy finish is within reach.
