Despite preseason hype regarding a “Taysom Hill” role, Jalen Milroe logged a mere three snaps last season as tight end AJ Barner took over specialized short-yardage duties. His QB-only eligibility and minimal on-field presence currently render him fantasy-irrelevant, though he remains a theoretical vulture for red zone carries.

While his usage in the upcoming preseason inspires intrigue, he hasn’t shown enough to be considered a genuine threat to the backfield’s workload. Though undraftable in most formats, Milroe continues to be a viable dynasty stash in superflex leagues in case he somehow makes a leap as a thrower.

The Seahawks not only assured themselves of their future at signal-caller, but also left room to call an audible if their free agent signing doesn’t work out. Seattle selected Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe at No. 92 overall, making him the fourth quarterback off the board. He’ll come into the NFL as the presumed backup to Sam Darnold, who signed a three-year, $100.5 million contract during the offseason.

Milroe had been talked up as highly as a first-round pick, with most analysts calling him at worst a second-round selection. Those sentiments gained steam in recent days as “several” coaches allegedly said, “Jalen Milroe is the greatest runner of the football we’ve ever evaluated at the position.” Milroe ran for 1,577 yards in 38 games and a jaw-dropping 33 touchdowns on the ground.

Besides his ability to move the ball with his legs, Seattle also valued quarterback Milroe as a passer and leader. In three seasons, he completed 423 passes (64.6%) for just under 6,000 yards. He finished sixth in Heisman Trophy voting after his junior season of 2023. All told, Milroe accounted for 96 total touchdowns in three seasons with just 20 picks, nearly a 5:1 ratio.

Comments around the league are turning heads as NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that ‘several’ NFL coaches and scouts disclosed that “Jalen Milroe is the greatest runner of the football we’ve ever evaluated at the position.”

That’s high praise from within a league where Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, and Jayden Daniels play. Many of those are often compared to Michael Vick, whose career ended a decade ago. In this day and age, certainly Jackson is the most eyebrow-raising. Where Milroe posted a 4.40 40-yard dash time, Jackson logged an unofficial 4.34 at his pro day in Louisville. At the next level, the Baltimore quarterback has demonstrated elusiveness that would require a herculean task to upstage.

For his part, Milroe rushed for a combined 1,257 yards and an eye-popping 32 touchdowns on the ground between his junior and senior seasons, a span of 26 games. There is no doubt that the 22-year-old Texas native has what it takes to be a star in the NFL, but it is unfair to place such lofty expectations on a prospect this early.

Milroe has been consistently mocked as a high-end second-round selection this weekend. It’s not at all out of the question for a team to trade into the end of the first round to secure their future quarterback and gain a fifth-year option.

Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe is rising both in NFL Draft boards and on Underdog. Since April 8th, Jalen Milroe has risen from QB-36 to QB-33.

The hyper mobile and speedy quarterback has risen 18 spots on Underdog from round 20 into the early part of round 19. Milroe is also gaining steam towards 1st round draft capital in the 2025 NFL Draft which will take place in Green Bay, Wisconsin next Thursday.

Jalen Milroe will bring major intrigue to the draft as he has accepted an invitation to attend day 1 of the NFL Draft in person. As a junior, Milroe rushed for 20 touchdowns. Milroe projects to be a better fantasy asset than real life NFL asset due to his lack of development as a passer. Milroe would be a perfect fit for a team that could bring him along behind a veteran quarterback while aiming to develop into year 2 of his career.

Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe has garnered high, public praise from Browns General Manager Andrew Berry. Berry made mention of Milroe’s speed in the same light as 2024 MVP runner-up, Lamar Jackson.

Currently, the Browns have a patchwork set-up at quarterback with Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett heading into the 2025 NFL Draft. As murmurings of Shedeur Sanders sliding down the board have emerged, it is only natural for there to be balance at the other end of the rookie quarterback spectrum.

Jalen Milroe is gaining momentum to where his draft stock lies anywhere from early round 2 into the 1st round. Beyond desired talent scouts and GM’s see in Milroe is the calculated decision on whether or not to lock Milroe into being a 1st round selection. A 1st round selection ensures team flexibility in having contractual control with the 5th-year option.

Drama will unfold on draft night as Jalen Milroe has accepted an invitation to attend the event live in Green Bay. Popcorn will be on the menu as NFL fans watch to see whether or not Milroe falls out of round one. In the meantime, steam is forming for Jalen Milroe to get his number called on day 1 of the draft.

Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe is one of the biggest wildcard players of this 2025 draft class. Teams are doing their due diligence to make sure they are making the right choice in the draft. The Giants and Rams have older quarterbacks, in Russell Wilson and Matthew Stafford respectively, and Seattle has a shaky quarterback in Sam Darold. Milroe’s freak athletic ability and speed is obviously intriguing, so if he can learn from the starting quarterback on these teams the sky may be the limit.

Jalen Milroe will be a great dynasty stash and a best ball pick if he gets to be a starting quarterback. The speed alone is on par with Lamar Jackson or Justin Fields, making Milroe a potential top ten quarterback with even a average passing game. Milroe is likely a wavier wire pick up in redraft leagues unless he wins the starting job outright in training camp. Should Milroe win a starting nod, he should be one of the top quarterbacks to draft.
