NFL Playoffs: Divisional Round Injury Update | Actives and Inactives Saturday 1/17/2026
2 weeks ago

The Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs is here, and with it comes Saturday’s actives and inactives before game time

It’s time for the NFL Divisional Round of the playoffs. It also means the latest in injury news to report before the teams release before gametime.

  • Today, the No. 6 seed Buffalo Bills head to Mile High Stadium to face the top-seeded Denver Broncos. Josh Allen has many bumps and bruises ailing him, but he will be “full go” for the matchup, absent receivers Gabe Davis and Tyrell Shavers, who landed on the injured reserve last week, ending their season for an already-depleted wide receiver corps.
  • Good news in that department came in the form of Curtis Samuel being activated from the list. He is active for the game and will jump right in as a weapon for Allen.
  • Tight end Dalton Kincaid was limited all week (knee, calf) but has been playing through the injury of late. He will do so again on Saturday.
  • Placekicker Matt Prater is good to go; it appears his quad injury is completely behind him.
  • Running Back Ty Johnson (ankle) was only able to practice once this week, and on a limited basis. Expected to be the Bills’ No. 2 RB over Ray Davis. Johnson is officially out.
  • The Denver Broncos have no notable injuries on the offensive side after a week of rest.

  • The No. 6-seeded San Francisco 49ers will have to take on their rivals in Seattle without tight end George Kittle against the Seahawks.
  • Wide receiver Jacob Cowing (IR) will not be activated before the game.
  • Wideout Ricky Pearsall (PCL) is questionable and will be a game-time decision. Pearsall himself admitted a lack of explosiveness thanks to the injury but hopes to be on the field. Kyle Shanahan relayed that if he can play, there will be no snap count restrictions whatsoever.
  • Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold, already battling a quad injury, aggravated the injury in practice and was forced to cut the session short. Darnold maintains that he is “fine” and is “looking forward to being out there.” Seattle’s backup quarterback is Drew Lock.
  • Wide receivers Cooper Kupp and Jaxon Smith-Njigba missed practice on consecutive days this week, but neither absence was injury-related.

Buffalo Bills (12-5) at Denver Broncos (14-3) – 4:30 PM ET

San Francisco 49ers (12-5) at 1 Seattle Seahawks (14-3) – 8:00 PM ET – Update coming soon

Jacob Cowing Selected 135th Overall by 49ers
1 year ago

The San Francisco 49ers have drafted Arizona Wide Receiver, Jacob Cowing, with the 135th pick in the 2024 NFL draft.

Cowing is an undersized receiver who boasted tremendous production at multiple schools during his collegiate career. Now, he’ll head to the San Francisco 49ers where he’ll face an uphill battle to see the field as a rookie under the current circumstances.

On Thursday night, the 49ers took another wide receiver, Ricky Pearsall, with the 31st pick. The 100+ discrepancy in picks between him and Cowing signify that Pearsall will be prioritized to get on the field behind Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel. Jauan Jennings is another member of the 49ers wide receiver room who will be on the field after he put together a solid season last year and excelled as a run blocker.

For Fantasy Managers, Cowing is only worth a late-round dart throw in rookies at this point. He’s an undersized player who will need to earn his way onto the field in the slot, which is a position that Deebo Samuel and Ricky Pearsall can both play. Keep an eye out on whether the 49ers trade Aiyuk, as that could change Cowing’s fantasy outlook.

Jacob Cowing truthers want the Tank Dell of this class.

Arizona wide receiver Jacob Cowing got some rave reviews in the gauntlet drill while posting a 4.38 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Combine. At 5’8’’ and 168 pounds, fantasy gamers are thirsty to not miss out on this years Tank Dell. Chasing after Jacob Cowing won’t cost very much as you’ll be able to get him in the 4th and 5th round of your rookie drafts. The same can be said for NFL teams as Cowing will be available on Day 3.

In Jacob Cowing’s senior year campaign, he had 88 receptions to go with 832 yards resulting in 13 touchdowns. Sprinkling in a little bit of special teams’ usage, Cowing’s bullish outlook can be based on his potential versatility. With such a rich draft class deep in talent, this isn’t the best year for Jacob Cowing to declare for the NFL Draft.

Look for fantasy truthers to chase while yesteryear’s Alvin Kamara and Tyreek Hill fantasy gamers fully fade Jacob Cowing.
