Caleb Williams Drafted 1st overall by Chicago Bears
5 months ago

The Chicago Bears have drafted Caleb Williams with the 1st overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Chicago fans rejoice, as the Bears have acquired a generational Quarterback talent with the 2022 Heisman winner. Williams shows unique instincts and athleticism that makes impossible plays seem routine, making him one of the more predictable 1st overall selections in recent memory. Even in a draft class full of highly touted prospects, Williams stands head and shoulders above his peers.

The Bears have done an admirable job getting the team rebuilt for Williams to step into a comfortable situation. Over the offseason, they acquired wide receiver, Keenan Allen, as well as running back, D’andre Swift, in addition to tight end, Gerald Everett. They also possess a plethora of picks as ammunition for the remainder of the draft, including the 9th overall pick. This is arguably one of the most favorable situations a Quarterback drafted 1st overall has ever stepped into.

For Fantasy Managers, Williams’ draft capital and landing spot should lock him into the first overall pick in Dynasty Superflex rookie drafts. In single Quarterback Dynasty leagues, there is a strong case to be made for him to be a top 5 overall pick. While he’s not a top option in single Quarterback redraft leagues at this time, don’t be surprised to see him taken later in drafts while people hope for a rookie breakout.

Shane Waldron- Hired as Bears New OC

The Chicago Bears have found their new OC in Shane Waldron.

Shane Waldron, former Seattle OC, is closing in on a deal to become the new OC in Chicago.  Waldron spent the last three seasons in Seattle, making Geno Smith into a relevant QB in 2022.  In 2023, Seattle’s offense finished in the middle of the league for points and passing yards per game, back-half of the league in yards per game, and in the bottom 5 in rushing yards per game.

Although there was rumor of USC’s Kliff Kingsbury getting the potential job, it now looks like it’s now Shane Waldron’s job.  Waldron has worked with QBs like Jared Goff, Kirk Cousins, Russel Wilson, Geno Smith, and now perhaps Caleb Williams.

In 2023, Seattle drafted the first WR off the board with Jaxon Smith-Njigba at pick 20. Fantasy Managers should keep an eye on if  Waldron will ask the Bears to get the first WR off the board again in 2024, or if they will draft their “Franchise QB.”

Jerod Mayo- Hints that Patriots will draft a Quarterback with 3rd pick
8 months ago

Jerod Mayo shared in an interview that the Patriots plan to “draft the best player for a position that is very important. You put the pieces together.”

Jerod Mayo sent the fantasy community ablaze with his latest quote that strongly insinuates the Patriots will be drafting a Quarterback with their 3rd overall pick. While there were some speculations that the Patriots may be targeting Marvin Harrison Jr., Quarterback is a clear position of weakness for the Patriots.

Mac Jones has steadily declined in his three years at Quarterback for the Patriots, throwing less touchdowns and scoring less fantasy points each season. It’s clear there is an opportunity to upgrade the position, and there are three Quarterbacks in the draft that project as top 10 picks: Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and Jayden Daniels. At this point, you have to imagine the Patriots would be happy to secure any of these three as their Quarterback of the future.

Caleb Williams Declares for 2024 NFL Draft
8 months ago

USC Quarterback Caleb Williams has announced that he’s leaving school early to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft.

Widely expected to be the number 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Caleb Williams let the drama build as long as possible, waiting until the last day possible to declare for the draft.

The Bears hold the number 1 pick and face a dilemma, being forced to pick between building around either Williams or Justin Fields as their QB of the future. It’s unclear at this time whether the Bears are planning to stick with Fields. Drafting Williams and keeping Fields on their roster seems like the most unlikely scenario, but crazier things have happened. Keep your eyes out for another big trade from the Bears, similar to how they dealt the number 1 pick last season for a kings ransom. Williams is a much more highly regarded prospect than last years’ number 1 pick, Bryce Young, so expect a historic return if they decide to trade the rights to the first overall pick.

Fields being traded is just as likely of an option, and the Bears will likely be seeking a similarly large haul to move him. One thing is clear- the Bears hold all the chips and will be making a decision that has an enormous impact on their franchise.
