Tyler Knaeble identifies RB pickups to stream in Week 13.
We are just two weeks away from the fantasy football playoffs, so enough lollygagging and shenanigans, let’s get down to business! Here are the running backs that may just WIN you your fantasy football championship.
Jeremy McNichols, Washington Commanders
With Austin Ekeler and Brian Robinson both questionable against the Titans, Jeremy McNichols is expected to have a much bigger role this week. McNicholas has had some nice usable weeks before when there have been injuries to the two backs ahead of him and I expect more of the same in Week 13 if the same scenario occurs.
There have been four games this season where McNichols has had 7-plus carries. In those four games, he’s averaging 5.8 yards per carry to go along with three TDs. That being said, he has just two receptions on the entire season. We also haven’t seen McNichols have a game with double-digit carries, but on the chance that Robinson and Ekeler are both out, McNichols could have a pretty solid day as a flex option.
Gus Edwards, Los Angeles Chargers
With J.K. Dobbins not returning in the second half against the Ravens on Monday Night Football, Gus Edwards expects to be the next man up if Dobbins can’t go against the Falcons in Week 13. Despite him possibly getting an increased role, Edwards has been objectively bad this season. Here are just a few of his rushing performances this season: 11 yards on 9 carries, 25 yards on 11 carries, 19 yards on 6 carries. Not to mention he only has two total receptions on the season.
In my opinion, I think Edwards has really lost a step or two. He is 29 years old and just doesn’t offer much to the team other than a goal-line role. I actually like Kimani Vidal and Hassan Haskins as more intriguing options if Dobbins’ injury forces him to miss multiple weeks. Those guys to me have more upside down the stretch than Gus Edwards has.
Trey Benson, Arizona Cardinals
The breakout game is coming for Trey Benson. Before last week, we had seen Benson starting to become more involved with a nine-touch game and a 12-touch game in Weeks 9 and 10, respectively. Last week the Cardinals were down from the get go and didn’t run the ball much. I think this team wants to get Benson involved and, if you look ahead to his playoff schedule, it is very favorable.
Home vs New England, at Carolina and at the Rams are all warm weather/dome games and all of them are average or below average against the run. James Conner surprisingly has played every game this season. It’s never safe to assume injury, but Benson’s upside if Conner were to miss time would be HUGE. I’m definitely taking a shot on Benson in all my home leagues. He’s the definition of a league winner.
