Despite early offseason chatter about a potentially wide open offense in Pittsburgh, training camp reports indicate the offense will stay run-heavy, nerfing Germie Bernard‘s rookie year upside. Regardless of the offense’s identity, Bernard has remained parked behind Metcalf, Pittman, and Roman Wilson and will struggle to post a meaningful Target Share in Year 1.
Given his camp struggles, Bernard projects to be useless in redraft. He is also a dynasty league falling knife that will continue to leak lifetime value for the foreseeable future.

Michael Pittman exited practice with a leg injury Saturday and was talking to trainers after leaving the field, and the staff were focused on his right leg. Pittman remained sidelined Monday, with head coach Mike McCarthy offering no timeline for his return. Pittman commanded a 91.1-percent Snap Share and a 21.0-percent Target Share last season, leaving a significant projected target share in question if the issue lingers.
Fantasy managers must track upcoming practice participation to gauge whether his early-season workload is in actual jeopardy. We are considering the injury minor for the time being, and Pittman is PlayerProfiler’s WR36 in fantasy football redraft league formats.
Third-year wideout Roman Wilson—boasting a 40.0% College Dominator Rating with an underwhelming 22.2 Breakout Age at Michigan—is flashing speed and quickness and dominating early targets from quarterback Aaron Rodgers in Pittsburgh training camp. Wilson commanded primary WR3 reps ahead of second-round rookie Germie Bernard, operating behind veteran starters DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr.
Coming off a 2025 campaign where he managed a meager 13.4% Target Rate and 33.6% Snap Share across 13 games, Wilson remains a low-volume option unlikely to command enough target share to matter in 12-team redraft or best ball fantasy leagues. However, Wilson is now an attractive back-of-the-roster stash in dynasty leagues with Pittman and Metcalf both past the age apex.
Roman Wilson is looking to bounce back after missing his entire rookie year. An early offseason injury put his development behind track, so much so that HC Mike Tomlin didn’t feel comfortable starting him at all. This year the offense is basically all new – out go the starting QB’s, WR1 and RB1, in come Aaron Rogers, DK Metcalf, Kaleb Johnson…and hopefully Roman Wilson. Behind DK we’ve seen a fierce offseason battle for the other receiver spots between Wilson, Calvin Austin, and Robert Woods. Reports have been all over the place for who will play where, but the current odds have Calvin Austin manning the slot and Wilson behind Woods for the other outside receiver role.
Should crusty, dusty 33 year old Robert Woods finally fade away, Roman Wilson could do a lot with Aaron Rodgers. His speed and ability on in-breaking routes over the middle of the field is a great match for his new QB. And while DK has some impressive physical attributes, he’s not exactly a good (or even decent) route runner. Expectations must be tempered in what’s going to be a low volume offense, but at a basically free price, Roman Wilson is worth more than just a dart throw.

With George Pickens now in Dallas, a healthy Roman Wilson has the opportunity to take a Year 2 leap.
After essentially a red-shirt season to kick off his NFL career, Roman Wilson dynasty fantasy football shares now have life. Wilson dealt with numerous injuries throughout the season, only playing minimal snaps in Week 7. Wilson was held with a zero-stat line. It’s only up from here.
The former 3rd round pick out of the University of Michigan was supposed to compete with Van Jefferson and Calvin Austin for the WR2 spot in Pittsburgh behind George Pickens. In his final year sporting a Wolverines uniform, Wilson caught 48 passes for 789 yards and 12 TDs from JJ McCarthy.
Limit optimism even if Wilson does emerge as the clear WR2 in the Steelers offense behind DK Metcalf. The Steelers still have Arthur Smith as offensive coordinator, who historically limits consistent fantasy performances for his pass-catchers.

The third round pick Roman Wilson unfortunately was carted off the field due to an ankle injury while running a jet sweep. Wilson was starting to show flashes and standing out during training camp which will now have to focus on rehabbing the ankle. He is currently ‘OK’ and will be considered week-to-week but should be fine when the season starts on September 8th when the Steelers play the Atlanta Falcons.
Wilson is fighting for playing time this upcoming season and could be a sleeper for your next fantasy team. Not having playing time with the upcoming preseason games will hurt his chances to make a mark for the beginning of the season. The ankle injury is something to monitor and watch for when drafting this upcoming season. The Steelers will have 87 targets vacated when Diontae Johnson left, allowing Roman Wilson, Calvin Austin or Van Jefferson as the beneficiary.
