The Baltimore Ravens added depth to their receiver room, agreeing to terms with veteran free agent Russell Gage.
Russell Gage, a 28-year-old wideout, made a name for himself playing with Matt Ryan during his final years in Atlanta. Gage topped 700 receiving yards in back-to-back seasons, good for second on the team in 2020 and 2021. Gage left the Falcons and signed a three-year contract worth $30 million with the Buccaneers, but injuries plagued him since. He missed a handful of games in 2022 and all of 2023 after suffering a knee patella ligament tear in training camp. With those injuries behind him, Gage enters this season fully healthy and has already joined the Ravens in practice.
If Gage returns to what we saw a few years ago, he’ll be a solid depth piece in Baltimore. There’s plenty of room for improvement on their depth chart behind Zay Flowers. Former first-round selection Rashod Bateman was impressing in camp but is currently dealing with an injury. Gage will compete with rookie Devontez Walker, Nelson Agholor, Tylan Wallace, and Bateman (upon return) for playing time.
