Antonio Gibson Falling in UnderDog Drafts
1 week ago

Antonio Gibson is falling in drafts while Rhamondre Stevenson’s ADP remains steady in the 7th round.

New England Patriots running back Antonio Gibson has fallen 6.6 spots in ADP on UnderDog since July 9th. Antonio Gibson has fallen into the 15th round of drafts. The dip can be attributed to the fact that fantasy gamers are warming up to the idea that Rhamondre Stevenson is the preferred Patriots running back to draft in 2024.

This offseason, Rhamondre Stevenson signed a 4-year deal worth $36 million which is a victory for running backs drafted on day 3 of the NFL Draft. NFL teams often tell the truth via the moves they make versus quotes given publicly. With the financial commitment, the Patriots are hoping Rhamondre Stevenson returns to his 2022 form where he played 17 games and had a very nice 69 receptions for 421 yards and rushed for 1,040 yards.

Rhamondre Stevenson is an excellent selection in the 7th round of UnderDog drafts. Through 6 rounds, drafters can pile up a wide receiver heavy team while mixing in an elite quarterback and tight end to their rosters before committing to the running back position. With the base of a team already created, Rhamondre Stevenson stands out as a perfect first running back to draft in round 7 after building a super team prior.

Dynasty Riser: Rhamondre Stevenson

Rhamondre Stevenson’s dynasty value is on the rise over the past month after signing a 4-year, $36 million deal to stay with the Patriots.

New England made it very clear that they see Stevenson as a part of their longterm plans under a new leadership regime when they offered him a solid contract extension this offseason. Dynasty Managers have reacted accordingly since the news broke, vaulting him firmly into the RB 15-20 range, where he was previously valued outside of the top 20. There remains an opportunity for his value to increase, as the 26 year old showed an ability to be a top 10 running back in 2022.

Stevenson has a combination of financial investment from his team and previous production that make him a player worth targeting to acquire in dynasty, especially in full point PPR leagues. While many expect the Patriots to struggle in 2024, Stevenson will be a focal point of the offense, and 3rd overall pick Drake Maye could certainly surprise people similar to how C.J. Stroud did in 2023. If any scenario like this unfolds, Stevenson’s value will only continue to rise.

Rhamondre Stevenson Agrees to a 4-Year Extension With the Patriots
1 month ago

The New England Patriots and running back Rhamondre Stevenson have agreed on a 4-year $36 million extension, with $17 million being fully guaranteed.

Now that the Patriots are under a new regime, the team has decided that Rhamondre Stevenson is one of the building blocks for the team’s future. The Patriots drafted Stevenson in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Stevenson is the sixth player that the Patriots have either extended or re-signed since new Vice President of Personnel Eric Wolf and head coach Jerod Mayo took over in their respective roles with the Patriots.

Over his three seasons with the Patriots, the talented running back has rushed 499 times for 2,265 yards and 14 touchdowns. In the 41 games he has played, Stevenson also illustrated that he is an asset in the receiving game by bringing in 121 receptions for 782 yards and a touchdown. Although he has played in 41 games, Stevenson has only started in 21 of them. He has been dinged up a few times with injuries that have caused him to miss nine games during that span.

The Patriots also signed running back Antonio Gibson during the offseason which may affect Stevenson in the receiving game. Still, this extension should lead to more overall touches for the Patriots RB1 heading into the season. Stevenson has an ADP of 74, making him a bargain at the beginning of the seventh round. In dynasty leagues, it may be a good time to sell him with this news of extension. Either way, he should be a fine RB2 for fantasy managers this season.

Patriots Close To Extension With Rhamondre Stevenson
1 month ago

The New England Patriots and star running back Rhamondre Stevenson appear to be close to agreeing to a contract extension.

Originally a fourth round pick in 2021 out of Oklahoma, Stevenson has been a huge part of the Patriots offense. He broke out in 2022 rushing for 1,040 yards and five touchdowns while adding 69 catches for 421 yards and a touchdown through the air. Between injuries and the Patriots signing Zeke Elliot last year, 2023 was a down year for Rhamondre but the arrow is pointing up for the 26 year old back.

The extension would lock him in as the team’s starting running back as the offense grows with rookie quarterback Drake Maye. The team did bring in Antonio Gibson this offseason but he is a very complimentary player to Stevenson as mainly a receiving threat only. Look for Rhamondre to get back to taking the bulk of the touches and producing for your fantasy teams like in 2022.

The Patriots should rely on defense and the run game to help out either Jacoby Brissett or Drake Maye leaving Rhamondre with a great opportunity. Signing this extension solidifies the Patriots confidence in Stevenson and you should have confidence slotting him into your lineups this season.

Antonio Gibson to Sign With the Patriots | Role to Complement Stevenson
4 months ago

The New England Patriots will be reportedly signing running back Antonio Gibson.

Former Commanders’ running back Antonio Gibson will be heading North and signing with the Patriots. Gibson has shown flashes over the last three years in Washington but never seemed to get consistent touches. The log jam that the Commanders have at running back made Gibson expendable.

Over the last four years, Gibson has rushed for 2,643 yards and 22 touchdowns, with only one season seeing him past the century mark on the ground. What makes Gibson dangerous is his skills in the receiving game. In those four years, Gibson averaged 53 targets, 43 receptions, and totaled 1,283 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.

The veteran’s arrival may slightly damper Rhamondre Stevenson’s workload. Stevenson should remain the lead back in this tandem, especially near the goal line, but I can see Gibson making a splash in the receiving game. The Patriots lack playmakers on offense and if new offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt schemes up a game plan to utilize Gibson’s Swiss army skillset look out. Try to kick the tires to see if you can acquire Gibson for a third or fourth in dynasty leagues if you can.

Rhamondre Stevenson Placed on IR, 2023 Season Over
6 months ago

The New England Patriots have placed running back Rhamondre Stevenson on injured reserve.

The Patriots have decided to shut down Rhamondre Stevenson for the rest of the season. Since suffering a high-ankle sprain a few weeks ago Stevenson has been slow to heal and hasn’t practiced. With New England out of playoff contention there is no need to rush Stevenson back this season and have decided to save their stud running back for next year.

With this news, Ezekiel Elliot will continue to be the RB1 for the Patriots but also a solid RB2 for fantasy managers heading into the fantasy finals. Since taking over as lead back Elliot has treated fantasy managers to two 20-plus PPR fantasy performances in three weeks. In Elliot’s previous appearance versus Buffalo, he rushed 11 times for 31 yards and a touchdown while splitting time with Stevenson. Now with Stevenson out of the picture, Elliot and fantasy managers should enjoy the outcome come Sunday, with the veteran getting all the touches.
