We’re on to Week 6 of the fantasy football season, and the picture is coming into focus. We have a better idea of whose hot start was fool’s gold, which injuries are the most serious, and which defenses to target or avoid in every matchup.
Week 6 gives us one of those marquee Sunday Night matchups that’s impossible to ignore from a start/sit perspective, along with other matchups that scream target and a few that should make managers nervous.
Let’s get into the calls in this Starts & Sits Week 6 edition.

Starts & Sits | Week 6
Quarterback
START Jordan Love, Packers
Love is coming off a massive week against the Bears and shouldn’t slow down now, as he steps into a Sunday Night Football matchup against Dallas. This game projects as one of the best offensive environments of the entire week. Green Bay’s implied total sits at 27 points, and when you pair that with Dallas sitting at 25.5 on the other side, this game has all the makings of a shootout.

• 609 yards
• 6 touchdowns

Love’s expected fantasy points per game on the season sit north of 19, and he’s actually outproducing that mark more weeks than not. A quarterback playing this well in a game projected to have this much scoring is exactly the kind of spot you chase. Fire him up with confidence.
SIT Aaron Rodgers, Steelers
I get the appeal here. I mean, Rodgers has posted multiple passing touchdowns in three straight games, and that kind of streak makes it tempting to just keep running him out there. But the environment isn’t appealing on the road against Tampa Bay, and the injuries to his pass catchers keep getting worse by the week.
When a receiving corps is this banged up, even a quarterback playing well struggles to sustain the weekly touchdown pace that’s been propping up his fantasy value. Between the shrinking group of healthy targets and a defense that isn’t an easy out, I’d rather find a streamer in a cleaner situation this week.
Running Back
START Rhamondre Stevenson, Patriots
Stevenson has quietly been one of the more productive fantasy backs all season, and now the path only gets clearer with TreVeyon Henderson set to miss the next few weeks. With the lead role firmly back in his hands, Stevenson is in line for a heavy workload regardless of who’s across from him.
Rhamondre Stevenson could be in for a big afternoon against the Jets.
Stevenson is one of just three RBs this season with 15+ missed tackles forced as a rusher and 5+ as a receiver, joining Jahmyr Gibbs and Jaylen Warren.

The matchup against the Jets isn’t a smash spot, but it’s not scary, either. It’s right in that middle-of-the-road range that a bell-cow back can still produce against. Volume wins out here. Get Stevenson into your lineup with confidence.
SIT Omarion Hampton, Chargers
Something’s off in the Chargers backfield, and the numbers are backing it up. Based on the opportunity share and snap counts the last couple of weeks, Hampton looks like he might have actually fallen into a maddening three-man committee rather than holding a true lead role. That’s not the profile of a back you want to trust blindly just because of where he was drafted.
Making matters worse, the Chiefs are coming off their bye and have been one of the tougher matchups for opposing running backs in fantasy all year. Fresh legs on defense, a muddied opportunity situation on offense, and a tough matchup. That’s about as clear a bench candidate as you’ll find this week.
Wide Receiver
START Matthew Golden, Packers
Same story as the Jordan Love section above. This Packers-Cowboys matchup on Sunday Night projects to be one of the most point-friendly environments on the entire slate, and Golden’s been the beneficiary of that high-powered Green Bay offense all season. He currently leads the team with 44 targets and is putting together a genuinely great sophomore year. This is the kind of game script that lets him keep building on it.

When the offensive environment is this good and the receiver is this involved, you don’t need to overthink the call. Golden’s a confident start in Week 6.
SIT Ladd McConkey, Chargers
McConkey pulled off the ultimate switcheroo on fantasy managers last week. He was active heading into the game, but finished with zero snaps played. That alone should tell you everything about where his health actually stands right now, whatever the final designation says on paper.
Even if he does suit up, the situation around him isn’t inspiring. The Chargers offense has been struggling, and Kansas City presents the toughest matchup for wide receivers in all of fantasy football, allowing the fewest fantasy points to wideouts per game (16.2). Banged-up player, bad offense, and the worst matchup on the board. Come on, there’s no scenario where I’m trusting McConkey here.
Tight End
START Tucker Kraft, Packers
I’ve said it once, I’ve said it twice, I’ll say it again…start the players in the Sunday Night Football showdown. This Packers-Cowboys game projects to be one of the best scoring environments of the week, and Kraft’s underlying profile suggests he’s lined up for exactly the kind of performance that takes advantage of it.
When the game script points toward a track meet and the tight end has shown this level of per-target efficiency all season, it’s hard to find a reason to fade him. Kraft is one of my favorite tight ends on the board this week.
SIT Dalton Kincaid, Bills
I don’t care how soft the matchup looks on paper for tight ends this week. Kincaid has been an absolute dud lately, and that’s the part that actually matters. A favorable matchup rank doesn’t do you any good if the player isn’t seeing the role to take advantage of it.
Dalton Kincaid’s first 2 games:
12 catches. 225 yards.
His last 3 games COMBINED:
4 catches. 52 yards.

To make things worse, Buffalo could be getting D.J. Moore back on the field. If Moore returns, that only adds another mouth to feed in an offense that already wasn’t funneling much Kincaid’s way. Fade the name and chase the matchup somewhere else this week.
Final Thoughts on Starts & Sits for Week 6
If there’s one theme for Week 6, it’s this: find the game environment and build around it. The Packers-Cowboys matchup is one of the best offensive environments on the board, and I’m happy to roll with anyone involved in it. Love, Golden, and Kraft all qualify.
On the other side, poor roles and difficult matchups matter more than name recognition, and that’s exactly why Rodgers, Hampton, McConkey, and Kincaid are all benched for me this week.
Good luck, and as always, thanks for reading my Starts & Sits Week 6 edition.
