After missing the 2025 season with a severe knee injury, Dell is reportedly making significant progress in the Texans’ current offseason conditioning program. Team management is using his performance in spring activities to gauge his readiness and official availability for the 2026 campaign.
If cleared to play, Dell likely holds the advantage over Jaylin Noel and Xavier Hutchinson for the team’s WR3 position and will push Jayden Higgins and Dalton Schultz for targets behind first-read Nico Collins. Dell is a value dart in best ball and a strong buy-low candidate in fantasy football dynasty leagues.

Tank Dell is currently rehabbing from a severe 2024 knee injury that sidelined him for the entire 2025 season, with the Texans maintaining a “day-to-day” outlook for his potential Week 1 return. While his early career production (98-1,376-10) set a high standard, GM Nick Caserio’s openness to drafting a receiver suggests the team is actively seeking insurance for his recovery.
Dell is a high-risk “hold” in dynasty leagues. His value is currently suppressed by health volatility and target competition from the team’s sophomore playmakers and rookie competition. Brave dynasty leaguers who buy-low based on injury concerns know the reward is relatively capped.
Tank Dell is the ultimate post-hype sleeper, now eighteen months post-surgery and sitting on a massive market inefficiency after a lost 2025 campaign. While DeMeco Ryans has been non-committal about Dell’s readiness, Texans beats believe he is a true buy-low WR.
Once that first practice highlight hits the presses, the discount will disappear. The real issue is not health, it is target competition from sophomores Jaylin Noel and Jayden Higgins. Plus, David Montgomery‘s arrival signals a more run-heavy approach. Dell remains a better deep best ball option than dynasty stash.
Ryans quickly followed up with a mealy-mouthed “he’ll be back at some point this year.” This pull quote is a nice reminder that Tank Dell is not dead yet. When healthy, the human joystick is the undisputed WR2 behind Nico Collins and propelled CJ Stroud to his best professional season.
Dell’s injury risk is already baked into the price, and once positive rehab reports start surfacing, his ADP will quickly correct. Bottom line: Bones and ligaments heal, so stash him now at a discount, especially in dynasty leagues. The value window will slam shut as soon as Dell hits the practice field.
After a massive knee injury suffered in Week 16, Texans wide receiver Tank Dell will likely miss the 2025 season.
Dell suffered a dislocated kneecap, a torn ACL, LCL, and meniscus. That is about as bad as a knee injury can get. An ACL injury alone is an 8-12 month recovery. With the knee cap dislocation, the patella tendon may have sustained damage, as well. This makes the recovery much more complicated. Keeping the knee stabilized with a brace is imperative to allow the proper healing of all of the ligaments, the patella tendon, and the meniscus. With this extensive injury, Dell may lose some of the explosivness that made him an impact player.
The University of Houston product played in 14 games and recorded 667 yards and three touchdowns on 51 catches last season before the injury. That was a step back from his rookie season in which he played only 11 games, had more yards, and scored seven times. One can only hope Dell will be healthy and still be as explosive when he returns for the 2026 season.
Tank Dell is obviously player to avoid for this season in all formats. He will not be playing in any meaningful games in 2025. I would sell him in dynasty for the best offer available. With his size and the significance of the injury i have a hard time seeing him returning to his rookie form.

Tank Dell has had a nasty stretch of injuries over the two past years, dealing with multiple season-ending injuries and a gunshot wound. While he was able to recover from his broken leg suffered in 2023 to play 14 games in 2024, he wasn’t quite as explosive or productive as he was in his rookie season.
Things looked to be changing for Dell, as he was in the middle of his most productive game of the 2024 season in week 16 versus Kansas City before he suffered a gruesome knee injury that involved a dislocation and multiple ligament tears. His Quarterback, C.J. Stroud, was visibly emotional after seeing Dell suffer the injury.
Dell faces a long road to recovery with multiple surgeries. At this point, it’s unclear if he’ll be available at all for the Texans 2025 season. While no one is likely to want acquire him in dynasty right now, he’s worth holding onto, and don’t be afraid to see if you can secure any sort of return for trading him, as his future looks murky at best at this point.
