Dont'e Thornton and Jack Bech Are Moving in Opposite Directions on Underdog
5 months ago

The Raiders rookie wide receivers are heading in opposite directions on Underdog.

The Las Vegas Raiders are not considered a team that is deep at wide receiver. Jakobi Meyers is an ever present value in best ball as he is going in round 6 on Underdog as the WR40. The offense is set to run through tight end Brock Bowers and stud rookie running back Ashton Jeanty in 2025.

With Jakobi Meyers being the best Raiders wide receiver by default, it leaves opportunity for another receiver to emerge. After the 2025 NFL Draft it was initially believed that Jack Bech would be the logical player to rise in Pete Carroll and Chip Kelly’s offense. Instead, it is Dont’e Thornton who is catching plenty of buzz as he has stood out in minicamp.

As this word has gotten out it has sent the two rookie receivers in opposite directions. In the last week on Underdog, Thornton has risen 9.7 spots into the early 17th round. Divergent from Thornton has been Jack Bech who has fallen 6.5 spots into the early 13th round.

Bech was selected in round 2 of the NFL Draft while Thornton went in round 4. There is still an appropriate gap in drafts, but as fantasy gamers get wise to Thornton’s ability the gap will certainly close. Clicking both Bech and Thornton at ADP will help build unique lineups and will be particularly unique when stacking with quarterback Geno Smith.

Raheem Mostert to Be Raiders’ Primary 3rd-Down Back
5 months ago

News out of OTAs is that the Raiders plan on using veteran Raheem Mostert as the primary 3rd down running back to spare Ashton Jeanty.

With the Raiders having spent a top-5 pick on Ashton Jeanty, the only question regarding their backfield was whether either Zamir White or Sincere McCormick could hold onto prominent roles behind him. Instead, newcomer Raheem Mostert seems to be the frontrunner to mix in as the team’s primary 3rd-down back.

The Raiders signed Mostert to a 1-year, $2.1 million contract back in March. It’s a sneaky good fit for the 33-year-old former track star, who’s just one season removed from a 1,000-yard campaign. Mostert can be considered a decent value in dynasty leagues for owners seeking positional depth.

If I have Jeanty, however, I’m not rushing to acquire Mostert as a handcuff. Mostert has been prone to injury throughout his career, and I would much rather have the younger McCormick for a handcuff in Dynasty formats. He stands to gain more than Zamir White if either Jeanty or Mostert goes down.

Ashton Jeanty is a Raider

The Las Vegas Raiders select Ashton Jeanty to be their franchise running back at pick 6 overall in the NFL Draft.

Ashton Jeanty is a Las Vegas Raider. The electric running back is expected to be the franchise running back for the Raiders. In dynasty rookie drafts, Jeanty will be the consensus 1.01 pick.

In 2024 at Boise State, Jeanty rushed for 2,601 yards and had 30 total touchdowns. Jeanty is adept at receiving and had 43 receptions in 2023. Jeanty has a versatile skill-set with the right blend of contact balance, lateral agility, and ability to break tackles. His long speed will track from college to the NFL.

The Raiders get their top target. This will alleviate pressure for Geno Smith and give balance to the Raiders offense. Brock Bowers and Ashton Jeanty will be blue chip players in fantasy football for 2025.

Travis Hunter Selected by Jaguars at No. 2 Overall
7 months ago

The Jacksonville Jaguars made the first trade of the 2025 NFL draft, all the way to second overall to select the Colorado star

After all the talk about the Jacksonville Jaguars potentially trading up for Ashton Jeanty in the 2025 NFL Draft, the team dialed it up a notch by trading for the No. 2 pick from Cleveland to select two-way threat Travis Hunter.

Hunter has repeatedly said he would only play if he could continue to line up at wide receiver and defensive back. The Browns were expected to give him that opportunity, but Jacksonville must have sweetened the deal to make the first big splash on the evening. Terms of the trade were not immediately available.

Per ESPN Insider Adam Schefter, the Jaguars are expected first to introduce Hunter to the receiving corps while still working him into his more natural position in the defensive backfield. He will line up across from last year’s breakout rookie Brian Thomas Jr, giving Trevor Lawrence a more potent arsenal than he’s had in recent memory.

The Jags are Rumored to take Tetairoa McMillan or Ashton Jeanty at #5
7 months ago

The Jacksonville Jaguars are a potential landing spot for Tetairoa McMillan or Ashton Jeanty at #5.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are a real wildcard at #5 in the NFL Draft. They have been mocked to take DL Mason Graham pretty much across the board, but rumors from Daniel Jeremiah and Adam Schefter have them taking either WR Tetairoa McMillan or RB Ashton Jeanty. Taking McMillan makes sense to have a good WR2 lining opposite of last year’s rookie phenomenon Brian Thomas Jr. Schefter has stated that Jags head coach Liam Cohen loves McMillan. Jeanty on the other hand may be a bit rich considering that they have Travis Etienne and Tank Bigsby in the backfield and other holes on the roster.

Considering Liam Cohen’s offense both players would be set up well with the Jaguars. Jeanty is the consensus top RB in this draft and will be the top dynasty rookie pick in most drafts. McMillian will be a good foil for Brian Thomas Jr, Liam Cohen will cater his offense to fit his skill set. McMillian will be my top pick at WR in Dynasty if he were to land in Jacksonville. In redraft, Jeanty would be up there as a top 5 RB pick and McMillan will be around WR20.

Ashton Jeanty to the Bears is Picking Up Steam
7 months ago

Among the many suitors for Ashton Jeanty, the Chicago Bears appear to have the stud rookie running back in their sights.

Boise State rookie running back Ashton Jeanty is the bonafide 1.01 in all rookie draft formats for dynasty leagues. Jeanty is widely considered the best rookie running back amongst NFL scouts.

ESPN’s Matt Miller has shared that scouts around the league have revealed that the Chicago Bears have great interest in Jeanty. The Bears have the 10th pick in the first round. In recent years, the running back position has had a significant drop collectively in average draft capital. A resurgent season by Saquon Barkley that resulted in a Super Bowl win for the Philadelphia Eagles is causing a market correction towards running back value.

Ashton Jeanty is considered by some scouts to be a top-3 overall player in the whole draft and is rumored to be tied to the Las Vegas Raiders as a prime landing spot with the 6th overall pick in the NFL draft. Should Jeanty last to the Chicago Bears at pick 10, the whole league would be put on notice for a Lions redux with head coach Ben Johnson and a rebuilt offensive line.
