Eagles rushing attack propels team into 2nd Super Bowl in 3 years

Philadelphia Eagles run game powers them to 2nd Super Bowl in 3 years.

The Philadelphia Eagles are NFC champions, thanks to their incredible ground attack.  The Eagles scored 7 rushing touchdowns and recorded 229 yards rushing on Sunday, ending Jayden Daniels and the Commanders cinderella run in the NFC championship.

Saquon Barkley put the Eagles on the board midway through the first quarter with a 60 yard run on his very first touch, breaking down the left sideline and spinning through 2 tacklers near the sideline before cutting back between the hashes and sprinting into the end zone.  Barkley was special in the biggest moments for the Eagles, scoring on his first 2 touches before capping off his 118 yard, three score effort with a 4 yard TD run that put the Eagles up 47-23 in the fourth.  Franchise QB Jalen Hurts added 16 yards and 3 rushing scores.   The Commanders efforts and frustrations with the “brotherly shove” on the goal line led to referee Shawn Hochuli threatening to award a score if they continued to make pre-snap infraction penalties.

The Eagles took advantage of the Commanders porous run defense to the tune of 229 yards rushing on Sunday, the 2nd time in as many weeks a Commanders opponent recorded over 200 yards rushing.  The Eagles now await the winner of the AFC championship game between the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs for their opponent in the Super Bowl 59 on February 9th in New Orleans.
