Jaylen Waddle to Improve Hand-Eye Coordination and Chemistry with Tua Tagovailoa
5 months ago

Miami Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle is hard at work to improve hand-eye coordination and chemistry with QB Tua Tagovailoa this offseason.

Jaylen Waddle has stated he is working on his hand-eye coordination this offseason. With only six drops last season, tying his career low, the WR is not satisfied and found this to be a particular area of improvement. While working on this skill set, he is gaining valuable reps with QB Tua Tagovailoa, which is recreating the chemistry between the two from their days at Alabama. Currently operating as the WR1 for the Dolphins with Tyreek Hill sidelined with a wrist injury, this can mature into bigger things for Jaylen Waddle. Head Coach Mike McDaniel has stated that Waddle’s work is the culture the Dolphins are trying to build in 2025.

After bursting onto the scene in his rookie season with 104 receptions, 1015 yards and 6TDs, Waddle has had an up-and-down career. Waddle states that, along with hand-eye coordination, he needs better timing and smoothness in and out of his routes, and less movement without the ball. New WR coach Robert Prince has also tasked his WRs with learning a new unconventional skill–juggling. With the departure of Jonnu Smith to the Steelers, this may equate to a larger piece of the pie for Waddle. The two players were competing for targets in the same area of the field, and the majority of those targets went to Smith. Waddle is currently being selected in the seventh round of dynasty startups, a fall from the third round just a few years ago.

If we continue to see and hear Waddle putting in the work on his hand-eye coordination, while building chemistry with Tua Tagovailoa this offseason, he could be on track to return to the fantasy production we have come to expect from the Dolphins wide receiver.
