Cam Skattebo Out For the Season

New York Giants standout rookie running back Cam Skattebo is out for the rest of the season.

The New York Giants standout rookie running back Cam Skattebo will miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury. Skattebo suffered the injury in their week eight matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Skattebo was a bright spot for the Giants, with over 600 yards from scrimmage and six touchdowns. The fourth round pick had taken over the lead role in the New York backfield, now Tyrone Tracy finds himself at the top of the depth chart.

With Skattebo done for the rest of the year Tracy becomes a priority add for fantasy managers. In 2024 Tracy put up over 1,100 scrimmage yards and six touchdowns.

A Hat Trick for Skattebo

Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo records a three-touchdown night as they defeat the Philadelphia Eagles.

NY Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo had a dominant performance on Thursday night, rushing for three touchdowns as the Giants upset their NFC East division rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles. Skattebo has looked great, showcasing his strength and determination on every play. He has become a must-start asset in all formats moving forward.

Skattebo rushed the ball 19 times, accumulating a career high 98 yards on the ground while catching two passes for 12 yards. He ran one touchdown into the endzone from four yards out and the other two from the one-yard line, effortlessly plowing through defenders as if he were a bulldozer. “We played hard, and props to the guys up front for all the effort they gave me and this team,” said Skattebo post-game. The Giants’ rookie duo of Jaxson Dart and Skattebo have brought excitement back to the organization, and their bond continues to grow. Dart said he and Skattebo told each other they had each other’s backs and were “going to lay it all on the line each and every play.”

The Giants play another formidable opponent in Week 7 as they face the Denver Broncos.

RB Cam Skattebo Expected to Miss Week 1

Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo is expected to miss Week 1 with injured hamstring.

Giants fourth round rookie running back Cam Skattebo re-aggravated hamstring injury.  Skattebo has yet to appear in either of the Giants preseason games thus far.  Now, is expected to miss Week 1 of the regular season with this injury.  Due to reinjuring the hamstring, he may be missing more than just season opener.

In camp Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Devin Singletary have been splitting first-team reps.  Leaving Skattebo to earn more playing time through the course of the season, this however makes his debut in the NFL pushed back a little longer.  Expect Tracy to see high volume like he was getting at the end of last season, to begin this season, especially if Skattebo is going to miss more than one week.  Tracy could be off to a hot start due to the volume he will consume and may be added in all formats, he will be a must start in PPR leagues if he is the clear-cut starter.

Cam Skattebo Drafted to Giants in Round 4
7 months ago

The New York Giants use the 3rd pick in Round 4 to add a versatile runner to their backfield.

Cam Skattebo lands in an interesting situation, the Giants are adding talent around Malik Nebers and should be markedly better than last season. At 5’9″ and weighing 219 pounds, Skattebo may not have elite speed but demonstrated plenty of burst and a knack for yards after contact. He delivered a standout 2024 season, amassing 1,711 rushing yards and 605 receiving yards, along with 25 total touchdowns.

Skattebo will need to compete with second year backfield mate Tyrone Tracy Jr., also a 4th round selection from last year. Cam probably has the edge in between the tackles rushes, however both backs have shown to be prolific pass catchers, making this a tough backfield to predict at this point in the process.

More Top 30 Visits for Cam Skattebo

ASU’s Cam Skattebo’s stock sky-high with two more visits leading up to the 2025 Draft

With the 2025 NFL Draft less than a week away, in-demand running back Cam Skattebo squeezed two more visits under the gun. The gritty runner—one of the draft’s top prospects—visited the Detroit Lions and Tennessee Titans this week. This comes after official visits with the Cardinals, Browns, and Giants, and more presumed interest across the league.

It’s hard to imagine Skattebo ending up in Detroit, stuck behind David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. Tennessee also already has two backs with comparative styles. The first-team All-American is known for his smooth transitions from hard-nosed runner to receiving option out of the backfield. Those comparisons have drawn speculation that he’s also catching the eye of Sean Payton in Denver, who is likely seeking an Alvin Kamara prototype.

The most intriguing fits for his visits appear to be the Browns and Giants. Jerome Ford and Tyrone Tracy (respectively) have each been discussed as players whose roles are in jeopardy.

Cam Skattebo: Is he an Underrated Draft Prospect?

Cam Skattebo: Is he an Underrated Draft Prospect?

Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo has seen a lot of buzz recently, making several pre-draft visits as he gears up for the main event next week. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Skattebo has already met with the Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, and New York Giants, with two more visits lined up. Skattebo, had a standout season in 2024, rushing for 1,711 yards and 21 touchdowns, and catching 45 passes for 605 yards and three touchdowns. His impressive performance at the NFL Draft Combine, including a 39.5-inch vertical and a 10-foot-3 broad jump, has only boosted his draft stock.

From a fantasy football perspective, Skattebo’s landing spot will be crucial for his potential impact. His bruising running style and versatility as a pass-catcher could make him a valuable asset in the right system. Fantasy gamers should keep an eye on Skattebo, as his ability to contribute in multiple facets of the game could lead to significant fantasy production, especially if he lands with a team that prioritizes the run game. His journey from Sacramento State to the Big 12 Championship MVP spotlights his ability to elevate his game against top competition, making him a potential sleeper pick in redraft and dynasty leagues. Skattebo’s tenacity and receiving ability add another layer to his game, making him a player who could outwork his way into a significant role in the NFL.
