In a must win game for the Buccaneers, they come up short losing 20-17 to the Miami Dolphins. The lost came despite a strong game from wide receiver Chris Godwin who had 7 receptions for 108 receiving yards and a touchdown. Emeka Egbuka is still struggling to get over his rookie wall as he finished with 3 receptions for only 20 yards.
The fantasy season for the Buccaneers players has been really up and down. The flame burned really hot in the beginning with Baker Mayfield connecting with Emeka Egbuka and Bucky Irving running wild until he was injured. Once Mayfield was banged up, the team faltered down the stretch. Godwin was the lone bright spot down the final. Mayfield enters a contract year in 2026, the Buccaneers offense should fly high all of 2026 if they can stay healthy.

Baker Mayfield has a sprained AC join in his left shoulder, but the Buccaneers quarterback may still play Sunday vs. the Cardinals.
The Rams destroyed the Buccaneers on Sunday Night Football 34-7. The only loss worse was starting quarterback Baker Mayfield who left the game with a sprained AC joining in his left shoulder.
The Buccaneers have hope that the injury isn’t as serious as first projected with the hopes that Mayfield could play this Sunday vs. the Cardinals. An MRI will provide more clarity. Teddy Bridgewater would likely get the spot start. Consider Buccaneers skill position players as downgraded should Mayfield miss time.

Wide receiver Chris Godwin is ready to make his second attempt at returning from injury for the Bucs this week
Chris Godwin, who suffered a gruesome lower-leg (fibula) injury in 2024, is ready to join the Tampa Bay Bucs’ lineup on Sunday, when they take on the Los Angeles Rams on “Sunday Night Football.”
This will be Godwin’s second attempt at returning from the injury. He tried early in the season, playing in Weeks 4 and 5 before it was determined that he wasn’t yet fully healed. Subsequently, Godwin has been missing in action for the last six weeks (five games). Per The Athletic‘s Dianna Russini, a source confirmed to her on Friday that the wide receiver will be ready to suit up this weekend.
Godwin will return to his typical position in the slot as a mid-field target for quarterback Baker Mayfield. There has been no mention of him being limited in any way, including a snap count.
Fantasy lowdown: Assuming Godwin is fully healthy this time, he’ll be a sight for sore eyes for managers who have rostered him throughout the process. In Weeks 4 and 5, the wideout totaled just six catches for 52 yards. Mayfield should look for him far more often this time around.
The odd man out is likely to be Sterling Shepard, who has played in the slot when Emeka Egbuka’s role expanded due to the absence of Mike Evans. Tez Johnson should continue to see meaningful snaps on the wing as the offense’s deep threat.

As the 2025 NFL Draft wrapped up, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers appeared to be blessed with a massive amount of depth at the wide receiver position. With Chris Godwin nursing injuries through the offseason and into the season, the Buccaneers offense hasn’t been as full of firepower as in 2024.
The Buccaneers have just skated past the Falcons and Texans in the first 2 weeks and could really use Chris Godwin. With injuries to their offensive line, Godwin would be helpful for quick hitting routes. Godwin had 3 top-8 WR finishes in 7 games played last season.
The Buccaneers get the defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4. Despite the need for Godwin, Bakery Mayfield has managed well. To the delight of Emeka Egbuka fantasy managers, Godwin’s absence has allowed Egbuka to rise as a fantasy asset.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie wide receiver Emeka Egbuka puts on a sterling performance in Week 1.
Emeka Egbuka soared up draft boards as the summer heated up. All offseason, quarterback Baker Mayfield praised the rookie for his ability to do everything right.
Without Chris Godwin, Egbuka thrived in his debut. Egbuka had 4 receptions on 6 targets for 67 receiving yards. While this isn’t massive volume, it is an indicator of things to come. He was efficient and scored 2 touchdowns. Most notable, is the fact that Baker trusted Egbuka late targeting him with the game winning touchdown.
Egbuka enters Monday Night Football as the WR4 on the week with 23.60 fantasy points. He’ll get a good weather matchup at the Houston Texans in Week 2. Fire him up with confidence!

Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht says he expects wide receiver Chris Godwin to make his return in week five at the earliest.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin is returning from a dislocated ankle and won’t be placed on Injured Reserve, but still isn’t expected on the field in the first four weeks of the season. General manager Jason Licht believes Godwin could return in week five or later.
Godwin isn’t the only Bucs wide receiver that will miss time to open the season, second year wide out Jalen McMillan was placed on IR with a neck injury. With Godwin and McMillan out for at least the first four weeks of the season first round rookie Emeka Egbuka will have to step up alongside Mike Evans in the Tampa Bay passing attack.
What was once considered their deepest position, wide receiver depth is now a question for the Buccaneers. Expect Baker Mayfield’s targets to consolidate around Evans and Egbuka for the opening weeks of the season.
