New York Giants name Russell Wilson their starting quarterback.
New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll names Russell Wilson starting quarterback as training camp gets started. Daboll says that the other quarterbacks will get to compete but Wilson is at the top of the depth chart.
General manager Joe Schoen commented that Jaxson Dart has a long way to go but could “climb the ladder” as the season goes on. Jamesis Winston will have a role in this quarterback room as well but it’s clear that both are behind Wilson right now.
Wilson and Dart are both late round dart throws, Wilson represents a floor play while Dart has the upside and potential playoff week starts later in the season. Winston has been going mostly undrafted and that should remain the same.

The New York Giants sign Russell Wilson to a 1-year deal worth up to $21 million.
The New York Giants are taking a patchwork approach to the quarterback position this offseason. After signing Jameis Winston to a 2-year $8 million deal, the Giants have now signed Russell Wilson to a 1-year deal worth up to $21 million.
Based on the contract, the 10-time Pro Bowler will have an edge on Jameis Winston for starter status. The question now becomes, do the Giants select a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft a month from now?
The move indicates that the Giants are unsure of whether or not their preferred quarterback will be available for their number 3 overall pick. The early favorites for the first 2 selections in the draft are quarterbacks Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders. While Jaxson Dart has gained 1st round draft buzz, the Giants may be inclined to avoid taking Dart by choosing a player at another position or trading back in the draft. In the meantime, the cork is going back in the bottles being popped from the Jameis Winston signing as it relates to Malik Nabers proverbial trip to the moon.

Jameis Winston, the wildly popular journeyman quarterback in fantasy football finds a home with the Giants.
Jameis Winston is a New York Giant. The entertaining quarterback both on and off the field is heading to the media capital of the world.
Winston has signed a 2-year $8 million deal with the Giants. In 2024, the Cleveland Browns were No.1 in team pass pays per game with 42.8 and No.3 in pace of play. Jameis Winston was also No.11 in interceptable passes.
The signing immediately satiates a dopamine hit for Malik Nabers fantasy managers. While a quarterback is well within play be it Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders, or Jaxson Dart in round 1, it is easy to envision the first month of the season being filled with YOLO balls thrown to Malik Nabers before the future franchise quarterback takes the reins.
In 2024, Malik Nabers was the WR-6 in fantasy. Nabers hauled in 109 receptions on 170 targets, 1,204 receiving yards, and 7 touchdown receptions. While Jameis Winston is a volatile quarterback, his competency and willingness to feed his teammates the ball gives credence to the idea of Malik Nabers vaulting to WR-1 overall in fantasy football. Good luck acquiring Malik Nabers in dynasty as even Liam Neeson would have a difficult time finding a way to trade for him.

The Cleveland Browns have signed free agent quarterback Jameis Winston
Jameis Winston has signed a one-year contract with the Cleveland Browns. One of the best backup quarterbacks in the NFL, Winston is set to hold the clipboard for Deshaun Watson in 2024. While Watson signed a massive contract with Cleveland only two years ago, the pairing hasn’t lived up to expectations so far. He has struggled with injuries and accuracy, leading to speculation about his future.
However, make no mistake about it this is still going to be Watson’s team for the foreseeable future. This means that Winston won’t get the chance to compete for a starting opportunity like some places he could have signed. Given Watson’s struggles with injuries last season though it’s no surprise the Browns want insurance at the quarterback position. As a result, Winston should be rostered in all deeper Superflex formats as a player that could be plugged in as a QB2 if Watson were to ever miss time.
Saints QB Derek Carr is Week to Week with a Sprained AC Joint. Jameis Winston is expected to start Week 4.
The New Orleans Saints Head Coach Dennis Allens says QB Derek Carr is week to week with a sprained AC Joint. The Saints will be cautious with Carr’s injury recovery. The injury occurred during Sunday’s heartbreaking loss to the Green Bay Packers. Carr was slammed to the ground on his right shoulder and immediately removed from the game, He was later taken to the hospital as a precaution and checked for internal injuries. Jamies Winston came in for Carr in the third quarter and went 10 for 16 for 101 yards. Winston led the team into field goal range to win the game but the kicker missed the kick.
Jamies Winston will be the starter in week 4 against his former team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs rank sixth in the league against the pass in this young season. Winston played in three games last season completing 73 of 115 pass attempts for 858 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions.
With Carr being week to week, Jameis Winston is worthy of an add in Superflex leagues. He isn’t afraid to chuck the ball and he has some of the best weapons in football with Chris Olave, Michael Thomas, and Rashid Shaheed. The Saint’s next four opponents are vs. Tampa Bay, at New England, at Houston, and vs Jacksonville.
