It is now 18 months since Carson Beck underwent elbow surgery to repair a torn UCL. Following his 2024 elbow surgery and a pathetic 4.8 aDOT final season at Miami, Beck enters training camp looking to prove he can handle a more aggressive professional passing attack.

While his pocket-passing style currently caps his fantasy upside at a QB2 valuation, he could see early action if veteran Jacoby Brissett’s contract situation remains unresolved. However, Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur tempered immediate expectations by noting that sitting for his rookie season might actually be the best move for Beck’s long-term development. Regardless, Beck is a post-hype sleeper in dynasty superflex leagues with a rising rookie draft ADP.

Great to hear that Carson Beck will be afforded the opportunity to learn from superstar Jacoby Brissett as well as the best mustache in the game. “It benefits anyone in any position to be able to sit back,” LaFleur said to ESPN. “Sometimes, guys don’t have the choice because you have to put your best 22 out on the field there.”

Coach LaFleur values the opportunity for young players to learn from the sidelines, though team necessity often forces them onto the field prematurely. With Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew ahead of him, third-round pick Beck is currently being afforded this crucial developmental time. While the Cardinals’ decision to avoid rushing him into the lineup represents the ideal patient approach for Beck to develop, it was ultimately a QB purgatory decision to draft him in the first place.

The Arizona Cardinals just landed a prototypical pocket passer at No. 65 overall in Carson Beck, a massive 6-foot-4, 233-pound field general who brings elite processing and a 72.2-percent Completion Percentage to the desert. Beck displayed an 83.5 College QBR (83rd-percentile) and 8.8 Yards Per Attempt, proving he can slice up defenses with accuracy while with five seasons of college football under his belt.

In dynasty formats, Beck is a high-upside stash likely to sit behind Jacoby Brissett where his 7.07 Yards Per Play and pro-style pedigree make him a savvy mid-round rookie target with the potential to emerge as a high-floor Superflex starter once he claims the throne in an offense featuring Jeremiyah Love, Marvin Harrison Jr. and Michael Wilson.
