Early offseason reports out of Mobile are that the Minnesota Vikings have 49ers quarterback Mac Jones on their radar.
While the Minnesota Vikings still have faith in their current quarterback, J.J. McCarthy, reports indicate the team is concerned about his injuries and has Mac Jones on its radar. With the Vikings being in a competitive window, getting a productive backup makes sense if McCarthy does not progress. Jones is still under contract with the 49ers, but has garnered much attention from other teams with his performances the past two seasons in Jacksonville and San Francisco.
Jones started eight games last season, filling in for the injured Brock Purdy, completing 201/289 passes for 2151 yards and 13 touchdowns. San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke earlier about Jones and said, ” We’re not into getting rid of good players. I’d be surprised if he’s not here next year.” With Jones starting, the 49ers went 5-3, and the offense didn’t skip a beat, helping them stay in a playoff race.
