The Cincinnati Bengals have informed Tee Higgins that he will be franchise tagged. This was an anticipated move by the Bengals, it will now keep Higgins with the team when free agency opens on March 13th. This move will allow the Bengals some breathing room in hopes of striking a long-term deal with Higgins. If the two sides cannot agree on a long-term deal, Higgins would then play out the 2024 season under the franchise tag earning him $21.8 million for the season.
The Bengals came up well short of expectations in 2023, riddled with injuries to key players and Higgins was no exception, missing 5 games in 2023. Higgins finished 2023 as the WR51 in PPR formats, tallying 42 receptions for 656 and 5 touchdowns. Higgins should be in line for a bounce back year with a healthy Joe Burrow. Higgins finished 2021 as the WR23 and 2022 as the WR18, solid WR2 production. At 25, entering his prime of his career, Higgins is currently being valued as a WR3 in dynasty start-ups, and is looking like a value if his price doesn’t inflate too much with this news.
