The 49ers Add Depth at Tight End Signing Luke Farrell
2 weeks ago

The ex-Jaguar will now be working alongside stud tight end George Kittle.

The 49ers have added depth to their tight end room. The 49ers have signed Luke Farrell to a 3-year deal that can end up being worth $20.25 million. Adam Schefter reports that $11 million is guaranteed.

The move will most likely allow for less in line blocking demands from George Kittle in order to preserve last year’s TE-3. Kittle is 31 years old. His 15.8 fantasy points per game was No.1 at the position. In 4 seasons, Farrell’s highest catch total is 13.

With Deebo Samuel traded to the Washington Commanders and Brandon Aiyuk possibly on the way out via a trade, it makes sense for the 49ers to support George Kittle’s durability by bringing in Luke Farrell. With a more narrow target tree in 2025, expect George Kittle to push to break his career high reception total in 2018 of 88 receptions.
