The New England Patriots have continually struck out in free agency up to this point in attempting to acquire wide receiver help for franchise quarterback Drake Maye. The 2nd year quarterback is now getting 10-year veteran and 4-time Pro Bowler Stefon Diggs.

The deal is for 4 years and a very nice $69 million. While the Patriots land themselves a much needed weapon, this is a significant overpay considering that Stefon Diggs only played 8 games in 2024 due to a torn ACL and is 31 years old. 

The Patriots are much like the Packers in that they need to significantly overpay in order to draw free agent talent. The Patriots are not finished as they have 9 total draft picks. The dream overall pick would be for them to select dual threat cornerback and wide receiver Heisman Winner Travis Hunter with the 4th overall pick. 

Currently on Underdog fantasy, Drake Maye and Stefon Diggs can be stacked at the 10-11 turn as Maye is going as QB-15 at 119 overall and Stefon Diggs is going as WR-58 at pick 122. Expect both Maye and Diggs to rise in ADP together as this news sinks in.
