Stefon Diggs
Door is Open for Stefon Diggs’ Return to Houston
1 month ago

Houston Texans GM Nick Caserio mentioned the team would re-sign veteran receiver Stefon Diggs for the 2025 season if given the option.

Stefon Diggs, who is rehabbing from an ACL tear and will turn 32 by the end of this upcoming season, seems like the forgotten man by now. He had a productive 47 catches for 496 yards and 3 TD’s in just 8 games on a new team last year. In that time he managed to relegate C.J. Stroud’s self-proclaimed favorite, Tank Dell, to 3rd in the pecking order for targets, all while still passing the eye test. Bringing Diggs back next year makes a lot of sense, as the Texans will most likely be missing Lil’ Tank for the entire season.

We should look for GM Nick Caserio to keep building talent around their franchise QB. The team has several holes to fill on Draft Night and not a ton of cap space (8th least in NFL) to pursue younger receivers like Tee Higgins off the open market.  As it stands, aside from Nico Collins, both the WR and the TE room are a hodgepodge of could-be dart throws. Re-signing Diggs and hitting on a draft pick or two would go a long way in offensive continuity — for example in Theo Gremminger’s latest mock draft, the Texans pick WR Elic Ayomanor in the first round. I personally think they can wait until round 3 and select (steal of the draft) Jaylin Noel, who has a similar build, shiftiness, and downfield prowess to Diggs and could apprentice to the all-pro veteran to potentially replace him down the line.
