The New England Patriots earned their first win of the season Sunday, edging out the Miami Dolphins 33-27 in a back-and-forth battle at Hard Rock Stadium.

Sophomore quarterback Drake Maye delivered a sharp performance, completing 19 of 23 passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns, he also added 31 yards on the ground and adding a score too.  Rhamondre Stevenson had the most on the ground for the Patriots with 54 yards, while averaging 4.9 yards per carry.  Stevenson was also involved in the receiving game having 5 catches for 88 yards.  It was a big day for Stevenson, all while rookie running back Treveyon Henderson only played on 32% of snaps.

New England’s special teams provided a game-changing moment when Antonio Gibson returned a kickoff 90-yards for a touchdown.  This was one play after Dolphins’ Malik Washington returned a 74-yard punt return for a touchdown.  Both team’s special teams provided back-to-back blows, but ultimately Patriots edge out Dolphins.

For the Dolphins they did provide more offense than they did in Week 1 woes.  Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa threw for over 300 yards and two scores.  The Dolphins running game once again could get going on the ground, De’Von Achane rushed 11 times for just 30 yards, however, Achane provided a spark in the receiving game having 8 grabs for 92 yards and touchdown.  Also, in the receiving game we got vintage Tyreek Hill going for 109 yards on 6 catches.  Jaylen Waddel was another player who contributed to the receiving game, hauling in 5 catches for 68 yards and score.

The Patriots improve to 1-1 with the victory, while the Dolphins drop to 0-2, and still searching for their first win of the season.
