New Era Set to Begin in New England: Bill Belichick OUT Jerod Mayo IN
1 year ago

The New England Patriots have hired Jerod Mayo Sr., to replace Bill Belichick as their new had coach.

After parting ways with legendary head coach Bill Belichick, the Patriots have decided to move forward with former Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo Sr. as their new man in charge. Belichick has found life difficult without Tom Brady under center. Although Belichick had a couple of winning seasons since Brady departed to Tampa Bay, it appears that the game has caught up to the future Hall of Famer.

Mayo was a hot commodity after the regular season ended. There are reports that four teams were vying for Mayo’s services to be their head coach but the Patriots wasted little time in hiring Mayo a day after say goodbye to Belichick. Patriots Owner Robert Kraft, has thought very highly of Mayo for some time now  and was quoted  last March as saying “There is no ceiling on his ability to grow and how competent he is.”

Mayo has been part of the Patriots coaching staff since 2019 and is set to make his mark as head coach for the Patriots. What does this mean for the Patriots’ offense going forward who knows, but it was time for the team to move on from Belichick. Some time players need a new voice to get them in sync and moving in a new direction and for the Patriots that time is now!
