The Kansas City Chiefs have released WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling after winning back to back Superbowls with the team. This is not a surprising move for the Chiefs who will be saving 12 million dollars in cap money with his release. This move by the Chiefs is a clear indicator that they are making an aggressive push at re-signing two of their integral parts of their dominant defense in Chris Jones and L’Jarius Sneed.
Marquez Valdes-Scantling played 33 regular season games with the Chiefs in the 2 seasons with the club, tallying 63 receptions for 1002 yards and 3 touchdowns. MVS has struggled with drops most of his time in the NFL. With all this said, MVS could still garner some interest in the open market as a complimentary player, due his steady performance in this year’s playoffs, however, with this move his fantasy value just took a big hit.
