Trevor Lawrence is dealing with a shoulder injury.
The Jaguars season is fading like the failed pass attempt to D’Ernest Johnson Sunday when the game was on line. The Jaguars are already sitting last in the division behind the wayward Tennessee Titans. Their receiver room has been decimated with injury and now the $275 million dollar man, QB Trevor Lawrence, is limited with an injury to his non-throwing shoulder. There is no clarity on his participation this week and beyond.
This morning Ian Rapoport reported “Lawrence (left shoulder) continues to get treatment and weigh options for the future, sources say he’s considered unlikely to play Sunday.” Lawrence is currently carrying a questionable designation. He has not officially been ruled out for Sunday, but the more concerning part of the message is the “weigh options” statement. The addition of C.J. Beathard to the roster does not bode well for Lawrence hopefuls.
With the team on the skid and the general sentiment that coach Doug Pederson and his staff are on thin ice, could the front office be looking to put Lawrence on the shelf and punt on this season? With a 2-7 record they are not just sitting last place in the division, but tied for last place in the league. It’s early to tell, but this feels like a move towards the race to the bottom.
