Justin Herbert Dealing With Plantar Fascitis; Two Weeks in a Boot.

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert has been diagnosed with a plantar fascia injury and will miss the next two weeks.

Coming off of his 2nd consecutive season with diminished production from his outstanding rookie year, Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert was diagnosed with a plantar fascia injury in his right foot and will miss the next two weeks of the pre-season. The Chargers announced that Herbert will be in a walking boot for two weeks before working back to full strength, but will be ready for Week 1.

Herbert came out of the gate strong with over 5000 yards passing in 2021 as a rookie, and added 38 touchdowns. His yards and touchdowns have decreased each year since, and a new coaching staff that likely won’t call for 670+ passing attempts doesn’t suggest a return to his 2021 production. Additionally, Herbert’s injury means he has less time on the field to develop rapport with his new receivers, DJ Chark and rookies Ladd McConkey and Brenden Rice, while he learns a new offense under Greg Roman and Jim Harbaugh.

Herbert is currently our QB17 and has an Underdog ADP of 134. Ending last season early because of injury and starting 2024 with another, plus the new offense and personnel, make Herbert a risk at ADP, but hint at a future buy-low candidacy.
