The Dallas Cowboys are planning to sign former Broncos RB Javonte Williams to a one-year, $3M deal.
Javonte Williams hasn’t looked like the physical force he was coming out of UNC and during his rookie year with the Broncos after suffering a torn ACL, LCL, and damage to his posterolateral corner in Week 4 of the 2022 season. Over the past two seasons, he’s averaged a paltry 3.6 yards per rush and was limited to just 139 rushing attempts in 2024 as the Broncos decided to lean on other options.
Williams ranked outside of the top 30 running backs in every rushing efficiency stat measured by PlayerProfiler in 2024. He was never a burner, but over the past two years, it’s been clear he’s lumbering in a way that many hoped he’d move past as he further recovered.
Fantasy Managers shouldn’t overreact and try to acquire Williams because he landed in a prime landing spot. $3M is backup money, and the Cowboys are almost certain to target a running back in the first few rounds of the NFL draft that will keep Williams off the field.
