DeVante Parker Announces Retirement

After signing with the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency, WR DeVante Parker has announced his retirement

The long-time Miami Dolphins’ wide receiver, DeVante Parker, has announced his retirement from the NFL. This is a surprise considering he recently signed with the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency. However, Parker cited wanting to spend more time with his kids and he will hang it up following nine NFL seasons. He was a productive receiver over the course of his career, but he was never able to meet expectations after being selected No.14 overall in the 2015 NFL Draft. The highlight of Parker’s career came in 2019 where he accumulated 72 receptions, 1202 yards and 9 touchdowns (each a career high).

For fantasy football purposes this retirement won’t have a major impact. Parker is multiple years removed from being a consistent fantasy starter, and he was merely going to be a depth piece for the Eagles. Nonetheless, the Eagles are thin at receiver after stars AJ Brown and Devonta Smith. This could open up an opportunity for players such as Parris Campbell, Ainias Smith, and Johnny Wilson.
