Derrick Henry
Can the Ravens run to a SuperBowl with Derrick Henry?

Derrick Henry had a historic age 30 season, but does it mean anything if they don’t reach the Super Bowl?

Ravens RB Derrick Henry is almost a mythical creature even amongst the most incredible athletes that play in todays NFL.  Standing 6’3 and weighing 247 lbs, his imposing stature gives way to his unbelievable speed and power.  Leading into 2024, I said that this would be the 2024 version of perfect back, perfect system for for fantasy, akin to 49ers and Christian McCaffrey in 2023.  It was a hand in glove fit, and Henry became the first running back to surpass 2000 scrimmage yards after the age of 30.

Heading into the playoffs, the Ravens will likely have a 1st team All-Pro QB in Lamar Jackson, a 2nd team All-Pro RB in Derrick Henry, a defense that has gone from worst to first in the last 8 weeks of the season, and a chip on their shoulder from their past shortcomings in previous playoff runs.  But with Derrick Henry in the backfield, the vibe feels very, very different.

The Ravens are facing their bitter rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers for the 3rd time this season, and for the 38th time between Ravens coach John Harbaugh and Steelers coach Mike Tomlin.  The teams split the meetings, with the Steelers winning 18-16 in a game where Henry lost a fumble early.  The Ravens got revenge in Baltimore in week 16, winning 34-17 and feeding Henry to the tune of 162 yards rushing.

The formula remains simple, give the ball to the guy no one can tackle (6th in evaded tackles, 72) and he will run away from people (1st in breakaway runs, 25).  Can Baltimore ride this formula back to the Super Bowl?

I say yes, I have the Ravens and Eagles playing in New Orleans this year.
