Dallas Goedert fractured his Forearm and is expected to miss four weeks

Dallas Goedert came down awkwardly and fractured his forearm in Philadelphia’s week 9 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The expectation was for him to have surgery this past Monday and miss at least the next four weeks. Goedert will be a candidate for injured reserve as a result. Relatively unknown Jack Stoll will likely be the starting tight end going forward with Albert Okwuegbunam as his backup. Neither will be fantasy relevant options and can remain on waiver wires.

The biggest question for fantasy managers is what to do with Dallas Goedert? There is a good chance he will return in time for the fantasy playoffs, but he hasn’t been a difference maker in 2023. He is No.10 in fantasy points per game among tight ends and No.21 in Target Rate. If a fantasy manager has an injured reserve spot available he’s a fine stash, however Goedert is not someone I’d waste a roster spot the next four weeks for.

DeVonta Smith is set to be the biggest beneficiary though after a disappointing start to the season. He is only No.40 in target share among wide receivers and has been an afterthought behind AJ Brown. Nonetheless, he is coming off of back to back top 15 fantasy finishes and should receive a nice bump in targets. The Eagles will be on bye in week 10, but Smith will be a mid-tier WR2 when he returns to play Kansas City.
