Chubb Expected to Sign with Texans

Pending a physical, running back Nick Chubb is expected to sign with the Houston Texans.

After spending his entire career with the Cleveland Browns, running back Nick Chubb is expected to sign with the Houston Texans.  Chubb missed nearly all of the 2023 season due to a torn ACL. Chubb’s recovery took him into the 2024 season, in which he missed the first 6 games. Upon his return, Chubb played in 8 games, and averaged 12 carries and 41 rushing yards per game. Chubb averaged a career low 3.25 ypc. He only caught 5 passes all season.

Chubb missed the final 3 games of 2024 due to a fracture in his foot. After the season, GM Andrew Berry stated that he didn’t expect Chubb to return to Cleveland. Cleveland proceeded to draft RBs Judkins and Sampson, all but guaranteeing Chubb’s departure.

While a passed physical is the only expected obstacle for Chubb, his knee and foot injuries certainly raise the question if he has any remaining juice. Chubb is 29 years old, and two years removed from relevance. He would compete with Dameon Pierce and Woody Marks for a depth role on Houston. Chubb still remains off the fantasy radar.
