The Buffalo Bills have fired head coach Sean McDermott after nine seasons.
The Buffalo Bills have fired head coach Sean McDermott, ending his nine-year tenure in Buffalo. The decision comes just two days after a 33-30 overtime loss to the Denver Broncos in the AFC divisional round of the playoffs, another postseason disappointment for McDermott and the Bills.
McDermott finishes his Bills career with 98-50 regular season record and a playoff record of 8-8. The Bills became the first NFL team to win a playoff game seven straight years without a Super Bowl appearance. With the Bills never getting over the hump to make to Super Bowl, general manager Brandon Beane made the choice of needing a change. The Bills are set to open a new stadium next season and will have to do so with a new head coach.
Sean McDermott moves to the top of several head coaching vacancies and should have no problem finding a new home.
