Baker Mayfield
Liam Coen will return as Buccaneers playcaller in 2025
3 weeks ago

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers retain the services of offensive coordinator Liam Coen.

It is a day for celebration in the bay for Bucs fans.  Yes your season is still over, but your playcaller Liam Coen is not taking a head coaching job and leaving.

The Bucs offense was one of the most elite units in the NFL this year, finishing 5th with 29 points per game.  Coen revived the Bucs inefficient rushing attack, where they were one of the most consistent units with over 146 yards per game.  That rushing attack was paced by rookie Bucky Irving, the 92nd pick in the 2024 draft.  Irving finished 2024 with 1122 yards rushing despite only playing 44% of the snaps.  Rachaad White was able to post a career high 4.26 yards per carry.

The Bucs passing offense soared to new heights under Coen.  Baker Mayfield posted career highs in yards with 4500, and 41 passing TDs.  The Bucs receivers were efficient, with rookie Jalen McMillan scoring 7 receiving TDs in his last 5 games, second to only Randy Moss. Chris Godwin outpaced his career highs prior to a week 7 injury.  Mike Evans posted an 11th consecutive 1000 yard season in 14 games, an NFL record.

The Buccaneers offense will be one of the hottest commodities in drafts next season as they will return all of the contributing pieces in an elite unit outside of Chris Godwin, who is set to hit free agency.
