The Colts QB has aggravated the AC joint he injured during his rookie season and will miss the rest of OTAs and mini camp.
Anthony Richardson has had a roller coaster ride of a career in his short time in the NFL. At times he looked like a revelation at the position with his athleticism and playmaking, and then came the games with pass accuracy issues, interceptions and injuries. Richardson missed nearly his whole rookie season after initially spraining his AC, which he now has concerningly re-aggravated 2 years later.
Richardson’s time away from the team this offseason could potentially open the door for newly-signed Daniel Jones to grab a hold of the starting spot. So far the Colts have committed to a 50/50 split between the 2 quarterbacks, but it sounds like Jones will have an opportunity to develop extra rapport with his players and show the coaches that he may be the safer option for them. If the team continues to struggle, this year could be a turning point for organizational change. Richardson’s fantasy value has plummeted, if he starts the season as a backup that value will likely go down further.
