The San Francisco 49ers are signing QB Mac Jones to back up Brock Purdy.

Mac Jones signs a 2-year deal worth up to $11.5 million with only $5 million guaranteed. The former pro-bowler received extended action last season, filling in for the injured Trevor Lawrence. In 9 games, Jones completed 65 percent of his passes for 1,672 yards, 8 TDs, and 8 interceptions.

Despite throwing for as many touchdowns as interceptions, Jones was able to air the ball out at times for the Jaguars and kept them in many of their games. The experienced signal caller provides stability for a 49ers team that has suffered a significant amount of injuries over the last several years.
